Software Atom: An approach towards software components structuring to improve reusability

open access: yesSukkur IBA Journal of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, 2017
Diversity of application domain compelled to design sustainable classification scheme for significantly amassing software repository. The atomic reusable software components are articulated to improve the software component reusability in volatile ...

Xylem surfactants introduce a new element to the cohesion-tension theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Vascular plants transport water under negative pressure without constantly creating gas bubbles that would disable their hydraulic systems. Attempts to replicate this feat in artificial systems almost invariably result in bubble formation, except under ...

Permeability-driven selection in a semi-empirical protocell model: the roots of prebiotic systems evolution

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The origin-of-life problem has been traditionally conceived as the chemical challenge to find the type of molecule and free-solution reaction dynamics that could have started Darwinian evolution.

Development of nickel phosphorus coatings containing micro particles of talc phyllosilicates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The present work aims to characterized nickel phosphorus coatings co-deposited with talc particles on steel. The NiP-talc composite deposits were developed to serve as hard coatings with a lubricating effect at 600 C.

Food oral processing in humans: links between physiological parameters, release of flavour stimuli and flavour perception of food

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Studies, 2018
In humans, food oral processing (FOP) is the first step in the digestive process. It prepares the food for swallowing and to undergo the process of digestion.

Meiotic sex chromosome cohesion and autosomal synapsis are supported by Esco2.

open access: yes, 2020
In mitotic cells, establishment of sister chromatid cohesion requires acetylation of the cohesin subunit SMC3 (acSMC3) by ESCO1 and/or ESCO2. Meiotic cohesin plays additional but poorly understood roles in the formation of chromosome axial elements (AEs)

Structural and chemical embrittlement of grain boundaries by impurities: a general theory and first principles calculations for copper

open access: yes, 2006
First principles calculations of the Sigma 5 (310)[001] symmetric tilt grain boundary in Cu with Bi, Na, and Ag substitutional impurities provide evidence that in the phenomenon of Bi embrittlement of Cu grain boundaries electronic effects do not play a ...

Insights into pegRNA design from editing of the cardiomyopathy‐associated phospholamban R14del mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how prime editing guide RNA (pegRNA) secondary structure and reverse transcriptase template length affect prime editing efficiency in correcting the phospholamban R14del cardiomyopathy‐associated mutation. Insights support the design of structurally optimized enhanced pegRNAs for precise gene therapy.
