Biomolecular condensates often form through the self-assembly of disordered proteins with low-complexity sequences. In these polypeptides, the aromatic amino acids phenylalanine and tyrosine act as key ‘sticker’ residues, driving the cohesion of dense ...

Capillary Condensation in Confined Media [PDF]
We review here the physics of capillary condensation of liquids in confined media, with a special regard to the application in nanotechnologies. The thermodynamics of capillary condensation and thin film adsorption are first exposed along with all the ...

Adhesion and non-linear rheology of adhesives with supramolecular crosslinking points
Soft supramolecular materials are promising for the design of innovative and highly tunable adhesives. These materials are composed of polymer chains functionalized by strongly interacting moieties, sometimes called "stickers". In order to systematically

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Hot mix asphalt (HMA) is often exposed to moisture. Water in the bitumen-aggregate system leads to various HMA damages in the form of adhesive (failure at the bitumen-aggregate contact surface) and cohesive (failure in the mastic phase). The main part of

Reason clauses in Chemistry texts: effects of translation on the cohesive structure
This paper presents the theoretical-methodological choices and the initial results concerning the observation of the incidence of reason clauses in Chemistry texts. Translated academic textbooks of the area are specially focused in this study. These textbooks are opposed to other types of texts such as papers from specialized journals and texts from ...

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

By combining porous, solid, and carbon fiber‐reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane within a single 3D printed honeycomb structure, this current work achieved precise control over spatial stiffness while ensuring strong interlayer adhesion. The findings demonstrate enhanced energy absorption and densification strain, outperforming traditional uniform ...
