The Effects of Strength Parameters on Slope Safety Factor in 2D & 3D Analyses using Numerical Methods [PDF]
Slope stability is one of the important issues in geotechnical engineering. In this regard, due to the growth in the number of numerical approaches, the two and Three-dimensional Finite Element Method (FEM) and the Finite Difference Method (FDM) are more

Collapsing granular suspensions
A 2D contact dynamics model is proposed as a microscopic description of a collapsing suspension/soil to capture the essential physical processes underlying the dynamics of generation and collapse of the system.

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

A micromechanical model of collapsing quicksand
The discrete element method constitutes a general class of modeling techniques to simulate the microscopic behavior (i.e. at the particle scale) of granular/soil materials.

We demonstrate successful fabrication of high‐quality α‐Sn/β‐Sn planar nanostructures with arbitrary shapes by focused laser irradiation on topological Dirac semimetal α‐Sn thin films. The irradiated regions transform into atomically smooth, superconducting β‐Sn with a critical temperature of 3.7 K.

Discussion of ‘‘Re-Examination of Undrained Strength at Atterberg Limits Water Contents’’ by H.B. Nagaraj, A. Sridharan & H.M. Mallikarjuna [PDF]
Having recently investigated soil strength at the Atterberg limits, the discussers read the paper by Nagaraj et al. (2012) with interest. Whilst some of the conclusions of the paper concur with those of our own work, there are other areas in which we ...

A multidimensional molecular strategy optimizes the tribonegative layer by electrospinning PVDF‐HFP for dipole alignment and crystallinity, followed by 2D borophene doping to enhance conductivity and charge trapping. Integrated with Nylon‐66 nanofibers, the composite device delivers a record sensitivity of 53.8 ± 1.2 V kPa−1 at 3 Hz, enabling ultra ...

Influence of Load Frequency on Cohesive Soil Respond
The mechanism of cohesive soils response to cycling loading is less investigated compared to cohesionless soils. Multiple load-unload cycles cause significant changes in the structure of cohesive soils, which result in complex behaviour under the given ...
