Coincidence and Self-coincidence of Many Maps between Digital Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
The aim of this paper is to generalize some of the properties and results regarding both the coincidence point set and the common fixed point set of any two digitally continuous maps to the case of several (more than two) digitally continuous mappings.

Evaluation of the system accuracy of frameless stereotactic radiosurgery using a combination of cone beam CT, six degrees of freedom couch, and surface image‐guided systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of the frameless linear accelerator‐based stereotactic radiosurgery (FSRS) system incorporating cone‐beam CT (CBCT), six degrees of freedom (6‐DoF) couch, room laser, and surface image‐guided (SG) systems.

Numerical coincidences and 'tuning' in cosmology [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
Fred Hoyle famously drew attention to the significance of apparent coincidences in the energy levels of the carbon and oxygen nucleus. This paper addresses the possible implications of other coincidences in cosmology.

Assessment of a medical physics educational program for science teachers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Medical physics is a fulfilling profession where physics is applied to advance human health. However, many are uninformed of the role of physicists in medicine, and students are unaware of this career pathway. This study presents a pilot 1‐year program for science teachers to learn about physics in medicine and share with students

An investigation into the feasibility and efficacy of stereotactic radiosurgery for 1–3 cm single brain lesions on the ring‐mounted Halcyon LINAC

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose An evaluation of the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of the Halcyon ring delivery system (RDS) for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) treatment to relatively small (1–3 cm) brain lesions. Methods After completing the extensive in‐house quality assurance checks including Winston–Lutz test and independent dose verification via MD Anderson ...

New appearance of cosmic coincidence problem [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
The integrals of the Friedmann cosmology equations are identified as constant physical characteristics for both vacuum and non-vacuum cosmic energies. The integrals are found to be numerically coincident. A model shows that the coincidence can naturally originate in the electroweak scale physics at TeV temperatures.

Icosahedral coincidence rotations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1997
The coincidence problem for three-dimensional discrete structures with icosahedral symmetry is reinvestigated. We present a parametric description of the coincidence rotations based on special quaternions, called icosian numbers. In particular, we give a characterization of the possible coincidence indices (Sigma-factors) and present a complete list of

Amygdala Neurodegeneration: A Key Driver of Visual Dysfunction in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Visual disability in Parkinson's disease (PD) is not fully explained by retinal neurodegeneration. We aimed to delineate the brain substrate of visual dysfunction in PD and its association with retinal thickness. Methods Forty‐two PD patients and 29 controls underwent 3‐Tesla MRI, retinal spectral‐domain optical coherence tomography,

Management and Outcomes in Confirmed or Suspected Acute Symptomatic Seizure: Role of Structured Outpatient Care

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Post‐discharge management and outcomes of acute symptomatic seizures (ASyS) remain underexplored. We analyzed post‐discharge ASM management and outcomes in ASyS patients undergoing continuous EEG (cEEG), including the role of outpatient care through a post‐acute symptomatic seizure (PASS) clinic. Methods We performed a single‐center,
