Stability Theorems for Estimating the Distance to a Set of Coincidence Points

SIAM Journal on Optimization, 2015
Coincidence points of two set-valued mappings of metric spaces are analyzed. Uniform estimates are obtained for the distance to the set of coincidence points and to the set of intersections of the graphs of two set-valued mappings.

Coincidences of Comparison

Hypatia, 2000
Rada Iveković reflects on the significance of modernity in contemporary Indian philosophy. Where the orient has been figured as the other for western philosophers, she asks how Indian philosophy depicts the west, how philosophers such as Kant have been interpreted, and how thematics such as pluralism, tolerance, relativity, innovation, and curiosity ...

Coincidence Sets of Coincidence Producing Maps

Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1983
AbstractA theorem by H. Robbins shows that every closed and non-empty subset of the unit ball Bn in Euclidean n-space is the fixed point set of a self map of Bn. This result is extended to coincidence producing maps of Bn, where a map ƒ:X → Y is coincidence producing (or universal) if it has a coincidence with every map g:X → Y. The main result implies

The Force of Coincidence

2020
Editors’ Comments: Professor Skinner’s argument constitutes an exquisitely appropriate introduction to the collection that follows. The force of coincidence, as he points out, can be considered the essential phenomenon of operant conditioning. Operant conditioners, typically utilizing single-subject designs, impress other scientists (typically ...
