Coincidence isometries of a shifted square lattice [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys.: Conf. Ser. 226 (2010) 012026, 2010
We consider the coincidence problem for the square lattice that is translated by an arbitrary vector. General results are obtained about the set of coincidence isometries and the coincidence site lattices of a shifted square lattice by identifying the square lattice with the ring of Gaussian integers.

COVID-19 in Patients with Active Tuberculosis

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2021
Data on the coincidence of tuberculosis (TB) and COVID-19 are limited, and previous observations are based on the results of just a few studies, which has led to polarized views on the course of infection with SARS-CoV-2 in patients with active TB.

Self-Fulfilling Prophecies

open access: yesPhilosophies, 2021
Causal loops are a recurring feature in the philosophy of time travel, where it is generally agreed that they are logically possible but may come with a theoretical cost. This paper introduces an unfamiliar set of causal loop cases involving knowledge or

Spike-timing-dependent plasticity learning of coincidence detection with passively integrated memristive circuits

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Spiking neural networks, the most realistic artificial representation of biological nervous systems, are promising due to their inherent local training rules that enable low-overhead online learning, and energy-efficient information encoding.

Practical challenges in data‐driven interpolation: Dealing with noise, enforcing stability, and computing realizations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary In this contribution, we propose a detailed study of interpolation‐based data‐driven methods that are of relevance in the model reduction and also in the systems and control communities. The data are given by samples of the transfer function of the underlying (unknown) model, that is, we analyze frequency‐response data.

Coincidences of a shifted hexagonal lattice and the hexagonal packing [PDF]

open access: yesActa Phys. Pol. A, 126 (2014) no. 2, 516-519, 2013
A geometric study of twin and grain boundaries in crystals and quasicrystals is achieved via coincidence site lattices (CSLs) and coincidence site modules (CSMs), respectively. Recently, coincidences of shifted lattices and multilattices (i.e. finite unions of shifted copies of a lattice) have been investigated.

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

Exploitation of the Timing Capabilities of Metallic Magnetic Calorimeters for a Coincidence Measurement Scheme

open access: yesAtoms, 2022
In this report, we compare two filter algorithms for extracting timing information using novel metallic magnetic calorimeter detectors, applied to the precision X-ray spectroscopy of highly charged ions in a storage ring.

Relation-theoretic metrical coincidence theorems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this article, we generalize some frequently used metrical notions such as: completeness, closedness, continuity, g-continuity and compatibility to relation-theoretic setting and utilize these relatively weaker notions to prove results on the existence

Molecular Dynamics of XFEL-Induced Photo-Dissociation, Revealed by Ion-Ion Coincidence Measurements

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
X-ray free electron lasers (XFELs) providing ultrashort intense pulses of X-rays have proven to be excellent tools to investigate the dynamics of radiation-induced dissociation and charge redistribution in molecules and nanoparticles.
