Breaking Free of the Triple Coincidence in International Finance

open access: yes, 2015
The traditional approach to international finance is to view capital flows as the financial counterpart to savings and investment decisions, assuming further that the GDP boundary defines both the decision-making unit and the currency area.

In vivo coincidence detection in mammalian sound localization generates phase delays

open access: yesNature Neuroscience, 2015
Sound localization critically depends on detection of differences in arrival time of sounds at the two ears (acoustic delay). The fundamental mechanisms are debated, but all proposals include a process of coincidence detection and a separate source of ...

Maps on graphs can be deformed to be coincidence-free [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
We give a construction to remove coincidence points of continuous maps on graphs (1-complexes) by changing the maps by homotopies. When the codomain is not homeomorphic to the circle, we show that any pair of maps can be changed by homotopies to be coincidence free.

Physiology of Layer 5 Pyramidal Neurons in Mouse Primary Visual Cortex: Coincidence Detection through Bursting

open access: yesPLoS Comput. Biol., 2015
L5 pyramidal neurons are the only neocortical cell type with dendrites reaching all six layers of cortex, casting them as one of the main integrators in the cortical column.

Superpotentials and Geometric Invariants of Parallel/Complete Coincident/Part Coincident D-brane System on Compact Calabi-Yau Manifold [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
For D-brane system with three D-branes on compact Calabi-Yau threefolds, the dual F-theory fourfolds for parallel/complete coincident/part coincident D-brane system is constructed by the type II/F-theory duality. Complete coincident means that the three D-branes coincide and part coincident represents the coincident of two of the three D branes.

Mutation incidence and coincidence in non small-cell lung cancer: meta-analyses by ethnicity and histology (mutMap)

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 2013
Background Meta-analyses were conducted to characterize patterns of mutation incidence in non small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Design Nine genes with the most complete published mutation coincidence data were evaluated.

The effect of kV imaging dose on PTV and OAR planning constraints in lung SBRT using stereoscopic/monoscopic real‐time tumor‐monitoring system

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Quantify the impact of additional imaging doses on clinical dose constraints during lung stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) treatment utilizing stereoscopic/monoscopic real‐time tumor monitoring. Materials and Methods Thirty lung SBRT patients treated with the volumetric arc therapy technique were randomly selected from the ...

The issue of personal safety on dolomite: a probability-based evaluation with respect to single-storey residential houses

open access: yesJournal of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers, 2009
In refining the principles supporting the safe and judicious use of land, the Council for Geoscience (CGS) is researching the use of a risk-based evaluation of the influence of development density on personal safety.

Position‐dependent offset corrections for ring applicator reconstruction in cervical cancer brachytherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Due to the tight curvature in their design, ring applicators are usually associated with large positioning errors. The standard practice to correct for these deviations based on global offsets may not be sufficient to comply with the recommended tolerance.
