A Review on Coir Fibre, Coir Fibre Reinforced Polymer Composites and Their Current Applications
Coir fibre has generated much interest as an eco-friendly, sustainable fibre with low density. This review findings show that coir fibres are abundant, with an average global annual production of 1019.7 × 103 tonnes, with about 63% of this volume produced from India. Extraction of coir has been carried out through water retting.

Poly(butylene terephthalate), (PBT) was melt blended with coir fibre using twin extruder in the ratios 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 25% (wt. percent) to prepare composites . In order to understand the role of surface functionalities and properties, the coir fibre was treated with alkali (NaOH) to remove impurities from the surface and again the alkali treated ...

Black dyes for coir fibre: 3 practical considerations [PDF]
Earlier trials on Synacril Black A, Benzamin Black DS 167% and Suprexcel Black VY- three possible substitute dyes for Chlorazol Black E -showed the effect of variations in dyebath conditions on the amount of dye deposited on coir (Canning, A. J., Jarman, C. G. and Mykoluk, S. M. (1979) Black dyes for coir fibre. Part 2.
