By-product coke and coking operations

Journal of the Franklin Institute, 1917
Abstract After discussing the notable events in the history of by-product coke making in the United States since the introduction of the process in 1906, the authors give a brief account of the generally accepted theory upon which the latter is based.

Predicting the yield of coke and coking byproducts [PDF]

open access: possibleCoke and Chemistry, 2009
The influence of various factors on the gross and metallurgical coke yield and the yield of coking byproducts at OAO Zaporozhkoks is studied. Analysis of laboratory data results in a mathematical formula for the influence of the reflection coefficient of vitrinite and the sum of lean components on the yield of coke and coking byproducts.

Coke shrinkage and coking pressure during carbonization in a coke oven

Fuel, 2000
Abstract The relationship between coking pressure, lateral shrinkage and vertical shrinkage during carbonization in the coke oven was investigated. During the early and middle stage of the carbonization, no lateral shrinkage (gap between the coke cake and the oven wall) is observed since the outer coke layer is pressed against the oven walls by the ...

Preparation and Characterization of Coal Pitch-Based Needle Coke (Part I): The Effects of Aromatic Index (fa) in Refined Coal Pitch

Energy & Fuels, 2019
Refined coal pitch is a recognized precursor to produce high-quality needle coke with its higher aromaticity, lower ash content, and a relatively narrow distribution of molecular weight.
