Cold-Formed Steel Truss Roof Structure Failure Considering Seismic Load and Buckling Analysis

open access: yesJournal of the Civil Engineering Forum
There were many incidents of cold-formed steel roof truss structures in the last 5 years in Indonesia. Various kinds of allegations have been addressed to cold-formed steel material applications especially in the case of seismic resistance. Some of them

Application of cold formed hollow steel sections

open access: yesGrađevinar, 2014
According to EN 1993-1-1, the application of hollow steel sections is permitted in the execution of steel structures, regardless of whether they are hot finished according to EN 10210 or cold finished according to EN 10219.

Finite element modelling of cold formed stainless steel columns

open access: yes, 2004
This paper describes the results obtained from a finite element investigation into the load capacity of column members of lipped channel cross-section, cold formed from Type 304 stainless steel, subjected to concentric and eccentric compression loading ...

Parametric Study on Built-Up Cold-Formed Steel Beams with Web Openings Connected by Spot Welding

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
This paper presents a numerical parametric study on cold-formed steel built-up beams subjected to bending. The cold-formed steel built-up elements are efficient structural elements that are easy to assemble during the construction process, ensuring ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Cold formed steel semi rigid joints

open access: yesREM: International Engineering Journal
This article presents a theoretical and numerical study of an innovative joint using cold-formed steel sections. The motivation for the study of this connection is the ease of manufacturing and assembly that it provides.

Experimental Investigations of the Behavior of Stiffened Perforated Cold-Formed Steel Sections Subjected to Axial Compression

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
Cold-formed steel sections are becoming popular for different steel structures, because they have a high resistance against different straining actions, with a minimal weight compared with hard steel sections. Recently, perforated cold-formed steel (PCFS)

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Web crippling behaviour of cold-formed steel channel sections with offset web holes subjected to interior-two-flange loading

open access: yes, 2012
Cold-formed steel sections are often used as wall studs or floor joists; such sections often include web holes for ease of installation of the services. Cold-formed steel design codes, however, do not consider the effect of such web holes. In this paper,
