Curved Nanographene–Graphite Hybrid Anodes with Sequential Li+ Insertion for Fast‐Charging and Long‐Life Li‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 12, 9 February 2026.
A hybrid anode composed of Cl‐functionalized curved nanographene and graphite enables ultra‐fast charging and long cycle life through an engineered morphology and sequential Li+ insertion. It delivers 100 mAh g−1 at 5 C with 70% capacity retention after 1000 cycles and maintains stable performance over 2000 cycles in pouch cells, providing a practical ...

A comparison of corrosion-resistant steel (18 percent chromium - 8 percent nickel) and aluminum alloy (24st) [PDF]

open access: yes
In the selection of materials for aircraft application, it is not enough to make the selection on a strength-weight basis alone. A strength-weight comparison is significant but other factors must be considered, for while a material with a high ratio of ...

Ultrahigh Strength with Suppressed Flow Instability at Liquid Helium Temperature via Coherent Nanoprecipitation in a Medium‐Entropy Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 10, 2 February 2026.
It is demonstrated that severe lattice distortion and coherent nanoprecipitates overcome the strength–ductility dilemma and mitigate discontinuous plastic flow (DPF) at 4.2 K. Such microstructural design enhances both thermal and athermal stress components, leading to exceptional mechanical performance.

Robust Bio‐Textiles Via Mycelium‐Cellulose Interface Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 12, 9 February 2026.
This work introduces a new class of sustainable textiles by growing mycelium, the root‐like structure of fungi, into cellulose‐based fabrics. This semi‐interpenetrating mycelium‐cellulose fiber network combines the strength and breathability of natural fibers with the water‐resistant and adhesive properties of mycelium, resulting in a robust, scalable,

Stimuli‐Responsive Afterglow from Luminescent Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 7, 2 February 2026.
An active glow luminescent system for encoding, signaling, and tracking in dark environments has been developed by integrating inorganic ultralong afterglow phosphors with adaptive liquid crystal elastomer actuators. Abstract Stimuli‐responsive luminescent polymeric materials which combine afterglow emission with mechanical flexibility and adaptability
