In the quest for a cold tolerant variety - gene expression profile analysis of cold stressed oat and rice [PDF]
Cold acclimation is a process which increases the freezing tolerance of an organism, after exposure to low, non-freezing temperatures. The acclimation ensures that cold tolerant species can endure harsh winter conditions, by preparing them to sub-zero ...

Proteome Analysis of Cold Acclimation in Sunflower
Cold acclimation is the phenomenon in which plants are exposed to low, but nonfreezing, temperatures before exposure to drastic temperatures. To investigate how sunflower plants adjust their metabolism during cold treatment, a comparative proteomic approach, based on spectral counting data, was adopted to identify differentially expressed proteins in ...

14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.

Identification and characterization of miRNAs involved in cold acclimation of zebrafish ZF4 cells.
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play vital roles in various biological processes under multiple stress conditions by leading to mRNA cleavage or translational repression. However, the detailed roles of miRNAs in cold acclimation in fish are still unclear.

Hierarchical Structure and Fabrication of Functionally Graded Biointerfaces in the Mussel Byssus
The byssus is a fibrous protein‐based holdfast consisting of mechanically distinct interfaces, which mussels use to anchor their soft living tissue to hard seashore surfaces. Here, multiscale methodologies were used to elucidate the compositional and structural features underlying these functionally graded interfaces and how they are fabricated through

Intraspecfic variation in cold-temperature metabolic phenotypes of Arabidopsis lyrata ssp petraea [PDF]
Atmospheric temperature is a key factor in determining the distribution of a plant species. Alongside this, plant populations growing at the margin of their range may exhibit traits that indicate genetic differentiation and adaptation to their local ...

Paternal Circadian Disruption Impairs Offspring Cognition via Sperm microRNAs
Paternal circadian disruption remodels the sperm small RNA payload, elevating miR‐92a‐3p/miR‐25‐3p levels and perturbing early embryonic gene regulatory programs. Microinjection experiments and single‐embryo transcriptomics reveal sex‐specific developmental vulnerabilities, ultimately impairing offspring hippocampal synaptic plasticity and cognition ...
