Overview of quarkonium production in heavy-ion collisions at LHC

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
Quarkonium has been regarded as one of the golden probes to identify the phase transition from confined hadronic matter to the deconfined quark-gluon plasma (QGP) in heavy-ion collisions.

Atomic and optical Collisions with Cold Metastable Neon

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis presents investigations into the collision dynamics of cold metastable neon atoms in a magneto-optical trap (MOT). At very cold temperatures (approx.

The effect of collisions on wave-breaking in a cold plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The effect of electron collisions on reducing the wave-breaking amplitude of resonantly-driven electrostatic fields in a cold plasma is investigated.

Stage‐Specific H3K14 and H3K23 Succinylation Orchestrates Insect Metamorphosis and Oogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stage‐specific succinylation of histone H3 at lysine 14 and 23 differentially controls insect metamorphosis and oogenesis through distinct GPCR‐PKC signaling cascades, revealing an evolutionarily conserved epigenetic mechanism that coordinates key life‐history traits.

Response Analysis of River Ice-induced Vibration under Fluid-solid Coupling [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
Significant progress has been made in understanding the mechanisms and simulations of ice-induced shock vibrations due to continuous experimentation and simulation of vibrations induced by ocean platforms.

Cold collisions between linear polar molecules

open access: yes, 2003
Cold collisions between electrostatically trapped linear polar molecules are theoretically investigated. It is consequently shown that the inelestic collision cross-section is determined by S-wave scattering alone, while the contribution of D-wave ...

NFYB Integrates Hormonal Signals into Tissue Allometry by Promoting Protein Biosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the American cockroach, NFYB acts as a spatiotemporin that translates distinct hormonal cues into tissue‐specific allometry. Juvenile hormone activates NFYB in the early fat body, while 20‐hydroxyecdysone induces it in late wing pads. NFYB then promotes protein biosynthesis via core translational machinery, driving differential growth across the ...

ϕ Meson Production at Forward Rapidity with the PHENIX Detector at RHIC

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
The ϕ meson production in p+p collisions is an important tool to study QCD, providing data to tune phenomenological QCD models, while in high-energy heavy-ion collisions it provides key information on the hot and dense state of the strongly interacting ...

MiR‐940 Suppresses Ferroptosis by Controlling Expression of Key Regulatory Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A CRISPR‐based screening identified miR‐940 as a critical suppressor of ferroptosis in cancer. By coordinating the downregulation of pro‐ferroptotic genes with the upregulation of GPX4, miR‐940 establishes a regulatory network that protects against ferroptosis and correlates with poor clinical outcomes in distinct cancer entities.

Small collision systems: Theory overview on cold nuclear matter effects

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Many observables measured at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider and the Large Hadron Collider show a smooth transition between proton-proton and protonnucleus collisions (small systems), and nucleus-nucleus collisions (large systems), when represented ...
