Enhancing the bioactivity of polymeric implants by means of cold gas spray coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Nanostructured anatase coatings were built-up on biocompatible polyetheretherketone (PEEK) by means of cold gas spray (CGS). Titanium layer was previously desposited, which acted as bond coat between PEEK and metal oxide.

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Experimental and simulation study on evaporation characteristics of E85 impinging spray under DISI cold-start condition

open access: yesApplications in Energy and Combustion Science, 2023
The direct injection of ethanol-gasoline blended fuel into the engine cylinder near the top dead center (TDC) is evitable to suffer from the wall impingement due to more injection mass required to maintain the same air/fuel ratio with traditional fossil ...
