Synthesis of a Novel Thermoresponsive S53P4 Bioactive Glass Extract–Poloxamer 407 Injectable Hydrogels: Assessment of Biocompatibility and Antimicrobial Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates innovative thermoreversible hydrogels derived from S53P4 bioactive glass extracts to aid in the healing of infected diabetic foot wounds. These injectable gels, which gel at body temperature, release beneficial ions and remain stable over time.

Selection of Cold-hardy Rootstocks

open access: yesHortScience, 1998
Cold-hardy candidates from the Univ. of Minnesota Vitis collection were evaluated for potential use as commercial rootstocks for the production of cold-tender grapes in conditions typical of the eastern and midwestern United States. The 53 genotypes studied were selected from the collection based on past field performance and cold-hardy parentage ...

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Enhancement of cold hardiness by acclimation is stage-specific in the non-diapausing pupae of onion maggot Delia antiqua (Diptera: Anthomyiidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2006
When puparia of the onion maggot Delia antiqua were preexposed to 5°C for 5 days starting at different time points after pupariation, a large increase in survival after exposure to -20°C for 5 days was observed only when pre-exposure was initiated at 3-6

Senior Thesis ST 2011-02 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Agriculture in the Arctic is often limited by the low receipt of heat energy, which is often measured in growing degree days (GDD). With the advent of increasingly powerful climate modeling, projection and downscaling techniques, it is becoming ...

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Cold Hardiness of the Genus Camellia1

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, 1979
Abstract To determine the frost hardiness of some important Camellia species and their cultivars, dormant twigs wintering in Tokyo were collected mainly in midwinter and artificially hardened at −3°C for 15 days to induce the maximum hardiness.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

The complete chloroplast genome of cold hardiness individual of Coffea arabica L. (Rubiaceae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Coffea arabica is major cultivated species of coffee. We selected cold hardiness of C. arabica (named as CH3) based on selection of coffee seeds in Jeju Island, Korea. Here, we presented complete chloroplast genome of cold resistance C.
