Environmental and health consequences of shore power for vessels calling at major ports in India
To reduce local air pollution, many ports in developed countries require berthed ships to use shore-based electricity instead of burning diesel to meet their electricity requirement for loads such as lights, cargo-handling equipment, and air conditioning.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Local energy production scenarios for emissions reduction of pollutants in small-medium ports
Environmental impact produced by ships in ports is a relevant problem, especially when they are located close to urban areas. This paper, taking Ancona (Italy) as a case study, analyzes the CO2 (and other chemical species) emissions produced by the ...

Identification of the plant mitochondrial OrfX protein: A mass spectrometry approach
The mitochondrial genome of plants contains an open reading frame, orfx, which encodes a rare protein that has so far escaped mass spectrometric detection. The protein resembles the c‐subunit of bacterial twin‐arginine‐motif‐dependent protein translocases (TatC).

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Investigating Critical Parameters of Maritime Electricity Market
This paper discusses the economic factors that affect and, hence, must be investigated for the subsequent stage of onshore power supply (OPS) (or cold ironing) applications. In order to be considered a viable alternative to the conventional but pollutant

Circular and square cups drawing and ironing of Ti alloy sheets by incremental press forming method [PDF]
The low ductility of Ti–6Al–4V alloy at forming temperatures below 780°C is still a problem. Ti–6Al–IV alloy is usually hot press formed at 780 to 900°C.
