Effect of cold plastic deformation on electrical conductivity of various materials

Materials & Design, 2009
This study is focused on the investigation of the effect of cold plastic deformation on the electrical conductivity properties of different materials. The plastic deformation that occurs at the upsetting of the specimen and the varying of the conductivity properties were the main subject of this study.

Deformability of ShKh15 steel during cold plastic deformation

Russian Metallurgy (Metally), 2007
The effect of anomalous structural constituents in ShKh15 steel on its technological ductility during cold deformation has been studied. Additional high tempering of hot-rolled billets subjected to spheroidizing annealing is shown to remove retained lamellar pearlite and needle carbides, increasing the technological ductility of this ball-bearing steel.

Estimation of plastic deformation in the technologies of bulk cold deformation

Russian Metallurgy (Metally), 2016
A technique for determining the degree of reduction upon forming by cold bulk shaping has been proposed. The technique is based on a comparison of the measurement data on the hardness of a cold-worked metal with that of the same metal subjected to a compression test at a certain strain intensity.

On the Issue of the Improvement of Magnesium Plasticity by Cold Severe Plastic Deformation

Physics of Metals and Metallography, 2018
The paper presents the results of a study of the effect of the texture of a magnesium specimen on the mechanical properties of its plates and foils. Three cylindrical specimens with different columnar structure orientation were used for the experiments. The deformation was carried out in two steps at room temperature.

Mechanism of cold plastic deformation of sintered iron

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1982
The observed difference in the rate of strain hardening of sintered and case iron may be due to rotation of the particles in the process of cold plastic deformation of the P/M material, leading to substantial stress relaxation. The characteristics of the mechanism of plastic deformation in sintered materials must be kept in mind in developing ...

Localization of plastic flow in cold-deformed steel 18YuA

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1998
Bands of localized plastic flow 20–30 μm wide and up to 3000 μm long are formed in deep drawing of steel 18YuA. The development of the bands is completed with the formation of cracks due to exhaustion of the reserve of plastic properties in the steel. The special features of the process of localized flow in drawing steel 18YuA are considered.

The restoration of the margin of metal plasticity after cold deformation

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1998
Abstract Cold plastic deformation of metals is accompanied by the appearance of discontinuities on the micro-level, hereinafter referred to as `damage'. Annealing is employed to restore the plasticity margin and thus to avoid damage. The exhaustion of the fatigue life of machine parts produced by deformation processes is also accompanied by such ...

Cold plastic deformation of chromium-manganese austenitic metastable steels

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1984
1. CPD stabilizes austenite in relation to the γ→α-transformation during subsequent loading if during this more than 50% martensite is formed or there is formation of a cellular dislocation structure. 2. CPD activates subsequent martensite transformation if in this way there is formation of extended dislocations, a certain amount (up to ...
