Targeting the EpCAM‐AXL axis to overcome drug resistance in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells often evade therapy by hijacking signaling pathways. We reveal that cleaved EpCAM (sEpCAM) stabilizes the oncogenic protein AXL, driving NF‐κB and STAT3‐mediated chemoresistance. This EpCAM‐AXL axis identifies a high‐risk patient subset with poor prognosis.

Comparative genomics analysis of the reason for 12C6+ heavy-ion irradiation in improving Fe3O4 nanoparticle yield of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
The Fe3O4 nanoparticle synthesized by Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans have a broad practical value, while the low yield limits their commercial application. Herein, we employed a 12C6+ heavy-ion beam to induce mutagenesis of A.

Stiffness Characterization of Cold Recycled Mixtures

open access: yesTransportation Research Procedia, 2016
AbstractOne of the objectives within the European research project CoRePaSol (supported within the CEDR Transnational Program) was to summarize assessment and research of stiffness modulus of cold recycled mixes determined according to repeated indirect tensile stress test (IT-CY).

The multifaceted roles of lysosomes in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lysosomes support cancer cell adaptation by integrating macromolecule degradation and nutrient recycling with nutrient sensing, inter‐organelle communication and immune regulation. These interconnected functions can promote tumour growth, stress tolerance and therapy resistance, while also creating context‐dependent vulnerabilities that may be ...

Dose‐dependent hepatotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide in HepG2 cells and its modulation by CYP450 induction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Structural Contribution of Cold In-Place Recycling Base Layer

open access: yesCivilEng, 2021
Cold in-place recycling (CIR) of asphalt pavements is a process that has successfully been used for many years. The use of CIR for rehabilitation offers many advantages over traditional overlays due to its excellent resistance to reflective cracking and ...

The C‐terminal truncated splicing variant of NK1R negatively modulates substance P‐stimulated NK1R signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The neurokinin 1 receptor exists as full‐length (NK1L) and C‐terminally truncated (NK1S) splice variants. We show that NK1S heterodimerizes with NK1L, impairing Gαq coupling and Ca2+ mobilization while enhancing β‐arrestin1 recruitment. NK1S suppresses substance P‐driven gene expression and cell migration, revealing NK1S as an endogenous biased ...

Durability of recycled aggregate concrete in cold regions

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
The combination of experimental programs and finite element numerical methods is adopted to explore the durability of WBC (waste brick concrete). Rapid freeze-thaw and flexural tests are performed with the content of WBCA (waste brick coarse aggregate) and the number of freeze-thaw cycles as variables.

Dactolisib outperforms Rapamycin in potentiating apoptosis induced by XPO1, Bcl‐2 and Mcl‐1 blockade in preclinical glioblastoma models

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The PAM pathway and its impact on cellular metabolism. Color‐coded key symbols represent Rapamycin (R, orange, targeting mTOR) and Dactolisib (D, green, targeting PI3K/mTOR), indicating their sites of action. Created with BioRenders.com. Glioblastoma resists therapy through interconnected survival programs.
