Stress Response to Cold in Trichinella Species
Cryobiology, 2001Trichinella-type larvae (L(1)) are found in the muscles of infected wild animals and domestic pigs and are the cause of trichinosis in man and other animals throughout the world. These parasites are exposed to low temperatures during their life cycle. On this premise, three Trichinella species of different types of habitat (the arctic T.

Cold Stress Responses in Mesophilic Bacteria
Cryobiology, 1998The diversity of the prokaryotes that have been studied, combined with the many different effects of low temperature, has led to an extensive literature concerning cold stress responses in mesophilic bacteria. The aim of this review is to discuss the effects of cold on the behavior of bacteria.

Summary The relationship between fructans and cold stress response in higher plants is discussed, consideringtheir distribution in an homologous series and its implications on the osmotic potential of the cell. Fructose content by weight of each member of a fructan series was found to be inversely correlated to the absolute temperature of soil or air.

Stress in Dairy Animals: Cold Stress: Management Considerations
2016Although heat stress is a more common issue for dairy cows, cold stress may also affect animal health, welfare and production. Both in indoor and outdoor farming systems, dairy farm profitability relies on sound management and quality animal environment.

Residual Stresses in Cold Spray Coatings
2017In the current work, a series of coatings produced by cold spray using varying materials were studied with neutron diffraction. The through-thickness residual stress was evaluated in a number of substrate-coating systems, typically at a scale of several millimetres.

Accidental hypothermia in human subjects can occur almost anywhere in the world, even in those areas with the hottest climates, for example, because of industrial accidents. However, on a day-to-day basis the potential risk of being subjected to accidental hypothermia is greatest for those living and working at high latitudes, with cold water immersion

Auxin: a regulator of cold stress response
Physiologia Plantarum, 2012The growth hormone auxin regulates essentially all aspects of plant developmental processes under optimum condition. However, as a sessile organism, plants encounter both optimal and non‐optimal conditions during their life cycle. Various biotic and abiotic stresses affect the growth and development of plants.
