Divergent roles of ent‐kaurene oxidase paralogs in rice momilactone biosynthesis

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 10, Page 3776-3789, October 2026.
Rice contains a five‐gene tandem array of genes encoding members of the ent‐kaurene oxidase (KO) family, with OsKOL4 and OsKOL5 playing divergent roles in momilactone metabolism, but both acting in the production of antifungal and antibacterial phytoalexins, which are important for disease resistance.

SlMED25‐SlPHR3‐SlSPX2 module fine‐tunes SlPHR3‐mediated transcriptional activation of phosphate starvation response in tomato

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 10, Page 3593-3609, October 2026.
The mediator subunit SlMED25 and the co‐repressor SlSPX2 competitively bind the N‐terminal domain of the phosphate starvation response transcription factor SlPHR3 in tomato to form a sensitive molecular switch, which dynamically modulates phosphate starvation responses and maintains phosphate homeostasis, offering valuable targets for breeding low ...

Uncovering the role of the PPR protein PHOTOSYSTEM ONE BIOGENESIS FACTOR6 in splicing chloroplast group II introns

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 10, Page 3809-3829, October 2026.
The P‐class pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) protein PHOTOSYSTEM ONE BIOGENESIS FACTOR (PBF6) forms splicing complexes with other known splicing factors to facilitate chloroplast intron splicing. PBF6 cooperates with other PPR splicing factors to promote the splicing of the same intron through forming respective splicing complexes.

Exploring the significance of Kenya's indigenous and emerging blue foods for sustainable aquaculture development. A review

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Kenya's aquaculture sector is at a pivotal stage, transitioning from a historical reliance on Nile tilapia and African catfish toward a more diversified production portfolio that integrates indigenous and emerging freshwater and marine species. This shift is increasingly recognized as essential to enhance climate resilience, food security, and

Genome‐Wide Screening and Functional Verification of the Tobacco SGR Family Identify Transcription‐Factor‐Like NtSGRL as a Negative Regulator of Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus Resistance

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 10, October 2026.
A chloroplast‐associated STAY‐GREEN protein, NtSGRL1, acts as a negative regulator of antiviral immunity in tobacco. Disruption of NtSGRL1 enhances resistance to diverse plant viruses and reveals a previously unrecognized link between chloroplast regulation and immune signalling.
