A highly durable and biocompatible bionic collagen implant with exceptional anti-calcification and collagen regeneration capabilities for improved skin rejuvenation

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Skin aging, a complex and inevitable biological process, considerably impacts an individual’s physical appearance and overall well-being. While collagen-based implants hold potential for skin rejuvenation, their clinical application is limited by the ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Maillard reaction products from Tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) scale collagen peptides conjugated with Galactooligosaccharides of different purities: Characterization, antioxidant activity, and impact on the growth of probiotics

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
This study investigated the effects of galactooligosaccharide (GOS) purity (80 % and 95 %) and heating time (60 and 150 min) on characterization and bioactivities of Maillard reaction products (MRPs) formed by conjugating tilapia scale collagen peptides ...

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...

[Collagenous colitis]

open access: yesRevista clinica espanola, 1994
We present in this article the cases of two women afflicted with aqueous chronic diarrhea with normal analysis, radiology, and endoscopy, but presenting sigmoid biopsy of collagenous colitis. One of them was treated with omeprazol and the other with corticoids.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.
