Cenozoic tropical carbonate platforms in the Santos Basin, SE Brazilian Margin

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 6, Page 2454-2487, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Tropical carbonate platforms accompanied the latitudinal shifts of the tropical belt throughout the Cenozoic. Their flat‐topped geometries were influenced by a specific set of processes, including climate and sea‐level changes, carbonate facies, tectonics and continental runoff.

Applied Numerical Modelling of Landscape Evolution in Anthropogenic Landscapes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 9, September 2026.
This systematic review examines how landscape evolution models have been applied to analyse long‐term change in anthropogenic landscapes. The review evaluates modelling approaches, applications, limitations and key knowledge gaps to assess the potential of these models for long‐term landscape and risk management.

Peatlands at Southernmost Permafrost Edge: Rapid Carbon Accumulation but High Vulnerability to Drying

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology Communications, Volume 1, Issue 3, September 2026.
Little Ice Age cooling promoted peat initiation and permafrost development at the southern permafrost margin. Rapid carbon accumulation was sustained by permafrost‐suppressed decay and high photosynthetically active radiation, but recent warming‐driven drying is reducing carbon accumulation and increasing carbon‐loss risk.

Materials and Music: Selective Imperfection as a Generative Framework for Analysis, Creativity and Discovery

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, Volume 5, Issue 5, Page 834-867, September 2026.
Vibrations in matter, from spider webs to molecules, water to flames, share a grammar with music. We propose that creativity emerges when constraints force expansion beyond existing possibilities. Selective imperfection restores balance, enabling invention.

Model tests on reinforcement of collapsible loess by pneumatic-vibratory probe compaction method

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The pneumatic-vibratory probe compaction method is a new technology for the treatment of collapsible loess. By using the self-developed pneumatic-vibration model test devices, the model tests on the reinforcement of collapsible loess are carried out by ...

A Deep Learning–Based Multimodal Fusion Model for Predicting Bone Cement Leakage in Percutaneous Kyphoplasty: Development and Validation

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background There is a lack of intelligent methodologies that effectively integrate multimodal information to predict bone cement leakage (BCL) during percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP). This study aimed to develop and validate a deep learning (DL)–based multimodal fusion model that incorporates preoperative CT, MRI, and clinical variables to ...

Lateral Carbon Transport Induced by Watershed Erosion: Driving Effects of Land Use, Rainfall, and Landscape Controls

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 15, Page 10893-10910, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Lateral carbon transport induced by soil erosion is a key component of the global carbon cycle. Over the past 50 years, ecological restoration projects in the Loess Plateau of China have increased vegetation coverage. However, the effects of land use, precipitation variability, and landscape factors on lateral carbon transport remain unclear ...

Geochemical Evidence for Weathering in Northwestern European Loess on a Sub-millenial Scale During the Last Ice Age [PDF]

open access: yes
This study seeks to determine the extent to which chemostratigraphy can supplement other stratigraphic tools in determining the effects of climate change in loess-palaeosol sequences.

Study on vertical permeability regularity and collapsibility of a large thickness loess foundation by in-situ testing

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
In many regions in China there is a wide distribution of dead-weight collapsible loess that experience frequent disasters resulting in enormous losses to national property. Loess collapsibility is the leading cause of disasters in loess areas.
