Variation of Matric Suction as a Function of Gypseous Soil Dry Density [PDF]
Gypseous soil is one of the most problematic types of collapsible soils which is affected by many geotechnical factors. The most important factors are the effect of loading and wetting and their relation to soil density, especially when the soil at ...

An impervious sand used as separation layer in collapsible loess embankment: A case study
In this study, a novel impervious sand is modified from the desert sand. It has a good waterproofing and thermal-isolating capacity. Hence. it was used as the separation layer in the collapsible losses embankment to prolong the service life.

Negative skin friction on single piles in collapsible soil [PDF]
Collapsible soil is known as problematic soil, which possesses considerable strength when it is dry and loses its strength and experience excessive settlement when inundated. Geotechnical engineers face a great challenge when they build on/in collapsible

Model tests on bearing behavior of pile groups in collapsible loess ground under water immersion
The artificially prepared collapsible loess is used as the similar material to carry out 2×2 pile group model tests under water immersion. The change law of collapsibility deformation and the load transfer mechanism are analyzed. The results show that with

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...

Disorder‐Broadened Topological Hall Phase and Anomalous Hall Scaling in FeGe
By systematically introducing defects into FeGe via ion‐beam modification, we demonstrate that disorder broadens the temperature regime over which the topological Hall effect ‐ a signature of skyrmions or other chiral textures — appears, while also increasing its magnitude.

Melanin content directly controls fungal spore mechanical properties, with pigmented spores achieving rupture forces two orders of magnitude higher than hyaline spores. Environmental stress drives this quantity‐quality tradeoff; stressed species invest energy in melanin‐reinforced, mechanically superior thick‐walled, super‐hydrophobic spores, while ...
