Collective motion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Abstract The collective motion of various organisms like the flocking of birds (Fig. 6.1) [1], the swimming of schools of fish [2], and the motion of herds of quadrupeds, migrating bacteria (§4.1 ), ants [3] or pedestrians (§6.2) is a fascinating phenomenon catching our eyes when we observe our natural environment.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

The First Time KE is Broken up [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
A relevant collection is a collection, $F$, of sets, such that each set in $F$ has the same cardinality, $\alpha(F)$. A Konig Egervary (KE) collection is a relevant collection $F$, that satisfies $|\bigcup F|+|\bigcap F|=2\alpha(F)$. An hke (hereditary KE) collection is a relevant collection such that all of his non-empty subsets are KE collections. In

Solar energy collection system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A fixed, linear, ground-based primary reflector having an extended curved sawtooth-contoured surface covered with a metalized polymeric reflecting material, reflects solar energy to a movably supported collector that is kept at the concentrated line ...

From Collective Memory … to Collective Metamemory? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Our aim in this chapter is to delineate the form of shared agency that we take to be manifested in collective memory. We argue for two theses. First, we argue that, given a relatively weak conception of episodicity, certain small-scale groups display a form of emergent (i.e., genuinely collective) episodic memory, while large-scale groups, in contrast,

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Review: Collecting the Collections

open access: yesJournal of Science and Technology of the Arts
The review of The Logic of the Collection (2021) by Boris Groys addresses how the proliferation of images in digital space is reshaping the role of public collections, and discusses how contemporary forms of art collections—and the critique thereof—align with the universal logic of collecting.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six
