Effects of heat‐killed Lactiplantibacillus plantarum TWK10 on exercise performance, fatigue, and muscle growth in healthy male adults

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, 2023
Consumption of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum TWK10 (TWK10) has beneficial probiotic effects, improves exercise endurance performance, regulates body composition, and mitigates aging‐related problems in mice and humans.

From Collective Memory … to Collective Metamemory? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Our aim in this chapter is to delineate the form of shared agency that we take to be manifested in collective memory. We argue for two theses. First, we argue that, given a relatively weak conception of episodicity, certain small-scale groups display a form of emergent (i.e., genuinely collective) episodic memory, while large-scale groups, in contrast,

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Lacticaseibacillus paracasei subsp. paracasei 2LB: Identification of Genes to Assess the Safety and Probiotic Potential of the Strain

open access: yesFoods
In this study, we conducted a whole-genome analysis of the Lacticaseibacillus paracasei subsp. paracasei 2LB isolated from Kazakh traditional fermented milk (koumiss) to identify genes associated with the safety and probiotic potential of the strain.

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.

The discovery of an overseen pygmy backswimmer in Europe (Heteroptera, Nepomorpha, Pleidae)

open access: yesScientific Reports
The Pleidae, or pygmy backswimmers, is a family of aquatic bugs (Hemiptera, Heteroptera, Nepomorpha) containing four genera. Here, we describe Plea cryptica sp. nov. and redescribe its sister species, Plea minutissima Leach, 1817.
