Understanding the group dynamics and success of teams [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2016
Complex problems often require coordinated group effort and can consume significant resources, yet our understanding of how teams form and succeed has been limited by a lack of large-scale, quantitative data. We analyse activity traces and success levels

The Influences of Self-Introspection and Credit Evaluation on Self-Organized Flocking

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
For biological groups, the behaviors of individuals will have an impact on the alignment efficiency of the collective movement. Motivated by Vicsek’s pioneering research on self-organized particles and other related works about flocking behaviors, we ...

A stochastic-hydrodynamic model of halo formation in charged particle beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The formation of the beam halo in charged particle accelerators is studied in the framework of a stochastic-hydrodynamic model for the collective motion of the particle beam.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Seasonal footprints on ecological time series and jumps in dynamic states of protein configurations from a nonlinear forecasting method characterization

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Complexity
We have analyzed phenology data and protein configurations from molecular dynamics simulations with the nonlinear forecasting method proposed by May and Sugihara.

Quadrupole Collective Dynamics from Energy Density Functionals: Collective Hamiltonian and the Interacting Boson Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Microscopic energy density functionals (EDF) have become a standard tool for nuclear structure calculations, providing an accurate global description of nuclear ground states and collective excitations.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Collective Dynamics of Behaviourally-Motivated Energy Peak Moderation

open access: yesJournal of Social Computing
Managing peak loads from uneven daily demand is critical for modern national grids. Most approaches address this from technical, financial, or other individual perspectives.

Boson-like quantum dynamics of association in ultracold Fermi gases

open access: yes, 2004
We study the collective association dynamics of a cold Fermi gas of $2N$ atoms in $M$ atomic modes into a single molecular bosonic mode. The many-body fermionic problem for $2^M$ amplitudes is effectively reduced to a dynamical system of $\min\{N,M\}+1 ...
