Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Association Mechanisms and the Intentionality of the Mental [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper is an explanation of how the intentionality of perception is due to specific associations of sensations. It describes the intentionality of the mental and the problem that intentionality poses for accounts of the mind.

Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

Collective intentionality or documentality? [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophy & Social Criticism, 2015
In this article I defend two theses. The first is that the centrality of recording in the social world is manifested through the production of documents, a phenomenon which has been present since the earliest phases of society and which has undergone an exponential growth through the technological developments of the last decades (computers, tablets ...

High‐Entropy Alloy Interlayers Toward Advanced Joining for High‐Performance Structural Applications: Current Progress and Emerging Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
HEA interlayers offer a versatile route for joining high‐performance structural materials. Their compositional and structural design regulates interfacial reactions, suppresses brittle IMCs, and improves metallurgical bonding. Sandwich interlayers further integrate defect healing with precipitation strengthening, enabling improved strength–ductility ...

Ionic Precursors Transformed Into Vinyl Acetate Synthesis Catalyst via Reaction‐Driven Restructuring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that a simple physical mixture of Pd and Au ionic precursors, KOAc promoter, and SiO2 support can transform into a highly active vinyl acetate synthesis catalyst through reaction‐driven restructuring. The results highlight reaction‐induced restructuring as an innovative and sustainable catalyst design strategy.

Spatially Regulated Lithium Plating via Li2O‐Rich Interphase Enables Durable Fast‐Charging Hybrid Lithium Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Li2O‐rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is engineered on graphite through a propylene carbonate‐based electrolyte to spatially regulate Li plating. The homogeneous interphase lowers Li nucleation barriers, promotes conformal Li deposition around graphite particles, and suppresses dendritic accumulation, enabling durable hybrid Li‐ion/Li‐metal ...

Collective intentionality and the state theory of money

open access: yesErasmus Journal for Philosophy and Economics, 2015
The circulation of non-convertible currency and the source of its value raise important ontological questions that touch upon the conditions of its acceptance.

Pretence as Individual and Collective Intentionality

open access: yesMind & Language, 2008
Abstract: Focusing on early child pretend play from the perspective of developmental psychology, this article puts forward and presents evidence for two claims. First, such play constitutes an area of remarkable individual intentionality of second‐order intentionality (or ‘theory of mind’): in pretence with others, young children grasp the basic ...
