Collecting Coupons is Faster with Friends [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
In this note, we introduce a distributed twist on the classic coupon collector problem: a set of $m$ collectors wish to each obtain a set of $n$ coupons; for this, they can each sample coupons uniformly at random, but can also meet in pairwise interactions, during which they can exchange coupons.

Insertion of the FeB cofactor in cNORs lacking metal inserting chaperones

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nitric oxide reductase is an enzyme found in the bacterial denitrification pathway. The NOR active site contains a non‐heme iron, often, but not always inserted with the assistance of chaperones. Here, we study the insertion of FeB in the subfamily of cNORs lacking chaperones and found a putative channel, conserved in the family, perhaps enabling the ...

P4 Telemetry collector

open access: yesComputer Networks, 2023
As the complexity of computer networks increases to accommodate the demand for massive connectivity and cloud services, so does the probability of fault occurrence and the surface of attacks. Hence the need for constant monitoring of network devices and accurate analysis of traffic patterns to ensure the highest performance and maximum security.

Structural and mechanistic basis for the regulation of the chloroplast signal recognition particle by (p)ppGpp

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LHCPs are transported to the thylakoid membrane via the (cp)SRP pathway. This process involves a transit complex of (cp)SRP43, (cp)SRP54 and LHCP, which interacts with (cp)FtsY and Alb3 at the membrane. GTP hydrolysis by (cp)SRP54 and (cp)FtsY triggers complex dissociation.

Computational Screening of Current Collectors for Enabling Anode-free Lithium Metal Batteries [PDF]

open access: yesACS Energy Lett., 2019, 4, 2952-2959, 2019
Lithium metal cells are key towards achieving high specific energy and energy density for electrification of transportation and aviation. Anode-free cells are the limiting case of lithium metal cells involving no excess lithium and the highest possible specific energy.

Mobility Collector

open access: yesJournal of Location Based Services, 2014
Despite the availability of mobile positioning technologies and scientists' interests in tracking, modelling and predicting the movements of individuals and populations, these technologies are seldom efficiently used. The continuous changes in mobile positioning and other sensor technologies overburden scientists who are interested in data collection ...

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...
