Seeking Sense in the Hox Gene Cluster

open access: yesJournal of Developmental Biology, 2022
The Hox gene cluster, responsible for patterning of the head–tail axis, is an ancestral feature of all bilaterally symmetrical animals (the Bilateria) that remains intact in a wide range of species.

New Strongly Regular Graphs from Finite Geometries via Switching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We show that the strongly regular graph on non-isotropic points of one type of the polar spaces of type $U(n, 2)$, $O(n, 3)$, $O(n, 5)$, $O^+(n, 3)$, and $O^-(n, 3)$ are not determined by its parameters for $n \geq 6$.

Partitioning two components of BOLD response suppression in flanker suppression

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2014
The presence of a visual stimulus not only increases the blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) activation in its retinotopic regions in the visual cortex but also suppresses the activation of the nearby regions.

Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Analysis of the COL Gene Family in Hemerocallis citrina Baroni

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
Hemerocallis citrina Baroni (H. citrina) is an important specialty vegetable that is not only edible and medicinal but also has ornamental value. However, much remains unknown about the regulatory mechanisms associated with the growth, development, and ...

A High-Density Genetic Map of an Allohexaploid Brassica Doubled Haploid Population Reveals Quantitative Trait Loci for Pollen Viability and Fertility

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
A doubled haploid (DH) mapping population was obtained from microspore culture of an allohexaploid F1 from the cross between two recently-synthesized allohexaploid Brassica lines.

Examining collinearities

open access: yesAustralian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics
SummaryThe cos‐max method is a little‐known method of identifying collinearities. It is based on the cos‐max transformation, which makes minimal adjustment to a set of vectors to create orthogonal components with a one‐to‐one correspondence between the original vectors and the components.

Regression on manifolds: Estimation of the exterior derivative

open access: yes, 2010
Collinearity and near-collinearity of predictors cause difficulties when doing regression. In these cases, variable selection becomes untenable because of mathematical issues concerning the existence and numerical stability of the regression coefficients,

High resolution physical mapping of single gene fragments on pachytene chromosome 4 and 7 of Rosa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Rosaceae is a family containing many economically important fruit and ornamental species. Although fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)-based physical mapping of plant genomes is a valuable tool for map-based cloning, comparative ...

Collinearity and Dimensionality Reduction in Radiomics: Effect of Preprocessing Parameters in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Magnetic Resonance T1 and T2 Mapping

open access: yesBioengineering, 2023
Radiomics and artificial intelligence have the potential to become a valuable tool in clinical applications. Frequently, radiomic analyses through machine learning methods present issues caused by high dimensionality and multicollinearity, and redundant ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
