A Class of Collisions of Plane Impulsive Light--Like Signals in General Relativity [PDF]

open access: yesInt.J.Mod.Phys. D11 (2002) 933-945, 2002
We present a systematic study of collisions of homogeneous, plane--fronted, impulsive light--like signals which do not interact after head--on collision. For the head--on collision of two such signals, six real parameters are involved, three from each of the incoming signals.

Building Blue Stragglers with Stellar Collisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The evolution of stellar collision products in cluster simulations has usually been modelled using simplified prescriptions. Such prescriptions either replace the collision product with an (evolved) main sequence star, or assume that the collision product was completely mixed during the collision.

Collisions Between Gravity-Dominated Bodies: 1. Outcome Regimes and Scaling Laws [PDF]

open access: yes2012 ApJ 745 79, 2011
Collisions are the core agent of planet formation. In this work, we derive an analytic description of the dynamical outcome for any collision between gravity-dominated bodies. We conduct high-resolution simulations of collisions between planetesimals; the results are used to isolate the effects of different impact parameters on collision outcome ...

Research progress of Jiali fault activity

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评, 2021
The Jiali fault is a large strike-slip fault that traverses the southeast of the Tibetan Plateau. It played an important role as an adjustment fault for adjusting stress balance both before and after the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates. Based

Structure-controlled asperities of the 1920 Haiyuan M8.5 and 1927 Gulang M8 earthquakes, NE Tibet, China, revealed by high-resolution seismic tomography

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Detailed crustal structure of large earthquake source regions is of great significance for understanding the earthquake generation mechanism. Numerous large earthquakes have occurred in the NE Tibetan Plateau, including the 1920 Haiyuan M8.5 and 1927 ...

Investigating nonflow contribution subtraction in d-Au collisions with AMPT model [PDF]

open access: yesEur. Phys. J. A 59, 130 (2023), 2023
This paper presents research that focuses on nonflow contribution subtraction in heavy-ion collisions, using a multiphase transport model (AMPT). Specifically, the study aims to investigate the behavior of charged particle elliptic flow ($v_{\rm 2}$) in d-Au collisions at a collision energy of $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 200$ GeV and to determine the impact ...

Decentralized non-communicating multiagent collision avoidance with deep reinforcement learning [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2016
Finding feasible, collision-free paths for multiagent systems can be challenging, particularly in non-communicating scenarios where each agent's intent (e.g. goal) is unobservable to the others.

Collision of the COVID-19 and Addiction Epidemics

open access: yesAnnals of Internal Medicine, 2020
People with substance use disorder may be especially susceptible to COVID-19, and compromised lung function from COVID-19 could also put at risk those who have opioid use disorder and methamphetamine use disorder.

Towards Optimally Decentralized Multi-Robot Collision Avoidance via Deep Reinforcement Learning [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2017
Developing a safe and efficient collision avoidance policy for multiple robots is challenging in the decentralized scenarios where each robot generates its paths without observing other robots' states and intents.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs): Collision Avoidance Systems and Approaches

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Moving towards autonomy, unmanned vehicles rely heavily on state-of-the-art collision avoidance systems (CAS). A lot of work is being done to make the CAS as safe and reliable as possible, necessitating a comparative study of the recent work in this ...
