A Hybrid Collision Model for Safety Collision Control [PDF]
Self-collision detection and avoidance are essential for reactive control, in particular for dynamics robots equipped with legs or arms. Yet, only few control methods are able to handle such constraints, and it is often necessary to rely on path planning to define a collision-free trajectory that the controller would then track.

Abstract We use holography to study collisions of phase domains formed in a four-dimensional, strongly-coupled gauge theory with a first-order, thermal phase transition. We find three qualitatively different dynamical regimes depending on the collision velocity.

Research progress of Jiali fault activity
The Jiali fault is a large strike-slip fault that traverses the southeast of the Tibetan Plateau. It played an important role as an adjustment fault for adjusting stress balance both before and after the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates. Based

We provide a theoretical framework to analyze the properties of frontal collisions of two growing interfaces considering different short range interactions between them. Due to their roughness, the collision events spread in time and form rough domain boundaries, which defines collision interfaces in time and space.

Collision Lesions: Genuine Collision (Conflict) or not?
By definition, the term "collision lesion" refers to two or more tumors coinciding in the same anatomic position or visceral organ. Collision lesions coexisting on the same skin location are defined as collision skin lesions (CSLs). Although this term implies a conflict between the tumors, this is not the case.

This paper addresses a popular topic in science teaching and competitions for primary and secondary school students. Experiments with colliding coins are relatively easy to perform and therefore popular in science lessons. We used the idea in the science competition we organized for pupils aged 6 to 13 years.

Investigating nonflow contribution subtraction in d-Au collisions with AMPT model [PDF]
This paper presents research that focuses on nonflow contribution subtraction in heavy-ion collisions, using a multiphase transport model (AMPT). Specifically, the study aims to investigate the behavior of charged particle elliptic flow ($v_{\rm 2}$) in d-Au collisions at a collision energy of $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 200$ GeV and to determine the impact ...

Abstract Purpose A set of treatment planning strategies were designed and retrospectively implemented for locally advanced, non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients in order to minimize cardiac dose without compromising target coverage goals. Methods Retrospective analysis was performed for 20 NSCLC patients prescribed to 60–66 Gy that received a ...

A small footprint couch‐top support device for image‐guided radiotherapy of heavy patients
Abstract Purpose Patients with body weights close to or above 400 lbs present unique challenges in radiation therapy since the weight limit of most treatment couches decreases as the couch‐top extends toward the treatment gantry. The purpose of this work was to develop a small footprint couch‐top support platform to safely perform image‐guided ...
