A Novel Approach for Modeling Strain Hardening in Plasticity and Its Material Parameter Identification by Bayesian Optimization for Automotive Structural Steels Application

open access: yesAppliedMath
Constitutive modeling in plasticity is a critical topic in solid mechanics. However, modeling nonlinear plasticity remains a challenge due to the theoretical complexity in representing realistic material behavior.

Black Hole Production at LHC: String Balls and Black Holes from pp and Lead-lead Collisions

open access: yes, 2002
If the fundamental planck scale is near a TeV, then parton collisions with high enough center-of-mass energy should produce black holes. The production rate for such black holes at LHC has been extensively studied for the case of a proton-proton ...

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Online Hyperparameter Tuning in Bayesian Optimization for Material Parameter Identification: An Application in Strain-Hardening Plasticity for Automotive Structural Steel

open access: yesAppliedMath
Effective identification of strain-hardening parameters is essential for predictive plasticity models used in automotive applications. However, the performance of Bayesian optimization depends strongly on kernel hyperparameters in the Gaussian-process ...

Advancing Electronic Application of Coordination Solids: Enhancing Electron Transport and Device Integration via Surface‐Mounted MOFs (SURMOFs)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assembly of coordination solids, enabled by the surface‐mounted metal‐organic framework (SURMOF) platform, is on the cusp of generating the organic counterpart of the epitaxy of inorganics. The programmable and sequential SURMOF protocol, optimized by machine learning (ML), is suited for accessing high‐quality thin films of ...

Prioritising time-critical injuries and interventions for trapped motor vehicle collision patients: a Delphi study

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine
Background Physically trapped patients following motor vehicle collisions are at high risk of time-critical injuries and poor outcomes. Despite this, there is limited consensus on which injuries should be prioritised and which early interventions are ...

ESTIMATED GEODYNAMIC IMPACT FROM ZONES OF COLLISION AND SUBDUCTION ON THE SEISMOTECTONIC REGIME IN THE BAIKAL RIFT

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2016
The paper briefly overviews the evolution of ideas concerning causes and mechanisms related to the origin of the Baikal rift zone (BRZ) in the centre of the Eurasian plate, discusses parameters of the recent seismogeodynamic impact on the seismotectonic ...

Polarizing Bubble Collisions

open access: yes, 2011
We predict the polarization of cosmic microwave background (CMB) photons that results from a cosmic bubble collision. The polarization is purely E-mode, symmetric around the axis pointing towards the collision bubble, and has several salient features in ...
