Collision-Resistant hashing: Towards making UOWHFs practical [PDF]
Recent attacks on the cryptographic hash functions MD4 and MD5 make it clear that (strong) collision-resistance is a hard-toachieve goal. We look towards a weaker notion, the universal one-way hash functions (UOWHFs) of Naor and Yung, and investigate their practical potential.

The Mathematics and Physics of Diderot. I. On Pendulums and Air Resistance
In this article Denis Diderot's Fifth Memoir of 1748 on the problem of a pendulum damped by air resistance is discussed. Diderot wrote the Memoir in order to clarify an assumption Newton made without further justification in the first pages of the ...

This review explores functional and responsive materials for triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) in sustainable smart agriculture. It examines how particulate contamination and dirt affect charge transfer and efficiency. Environmental challenges and strategies to enhance durability and responsiveness are outlined, including active functional layers ...

Synchronization theory of microwave induced zero-resistance states
We develop the synchronization theory of microwave induced zero-resistance states (ZRS) for two-dimensional electron gas in a magnetic field. In this theory the dissipative effects lead to synchronization of cyclotron phase with driving microwave phase ...

This study investigates electromechanical PUFs that improve on traditional electric PUFs. The electron transport materials are coated randomly through selective ligand exchange. It produces multiple keys and a key with motion dependent on percolation and strain, and approaches almost ideal inter‐ and intra‐hamming distances.

Study of Solid Particle Erosion on Helicopter Rotor Blades Surfaces
In this study, titanium alloy (Ti-4Al-1.5Mn), magnesium alloy (Mg-Li9-A3-Zn3), or aluminum alloy (Al7075-T6) were used to construct the shell model of helicopter rotor blade to study the solid particle erosion of helicopter rotor blades.

Syndrome Based Collision Resistant Hashing [PDF]
Hash functions are a hot topic at the moment in cryptography. Many proposals are going to be made for SHA-3, and among them, some provably collision resistant hash functions might also be proposed. These do not really compete with "standard" designs as they are usually much slower and not well suited for constrained environments.

The Symbiosis between Collision and Preimage Resistance [PDF]
We revisit the definitions of preimage resistance, focussing on the question of finding a definition that is simple enough to prove security against, yet flexible enough to be of use for most applications. We give an in-depth analysis of existing preimage resistance notions, introduce several new notions, and establish relations and separations between

Continuous-variable quantum authentication of physical unclonable keys
We propose a scheme for authentication of physical keys that are materialized by optical multiple-scattering media. The authentication relies on the optical response of the key when probed by randomly selected coherent states of light, and the use of ...

We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles
