Atom collocation method

Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2012
This paper presents a new concurrent atomistic-continuum method called the atom collocation method (ACM). By adopting the framework of continuum collocation method, ACM aims at overcoming the current difficulties in interfacial mismatch, adaptive analysis, and parallel implementation of existing atomistic-continuum methods.

An isogeometric collocation method for efficient random field discretization

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2018
This paper presents an isogeometric collocation method for a computationally expedient random field discretization by means of the Karhunen‐Loève expansion.

Galerkin and Collocation Methods

2018
One method to numerically solve an equation consists in expanding the solution in terms of a set of known basis functions. These are the so-called “spectral” methods, where the main emphasis is placed on establishing procedures to obtain the expansion coefficients.

A Generalized Spectral Collocation Method with Tunable Accuracy for Fractional Differential Equations with End-Point Singularities

SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 2017
We develop spectral collocation methods for fractional differential equations with variable order with two end-point singularities. Specifically, we derive three-term recurrence relations for both integrals and derivatives of the weighted Jacobi ...

Collocation and Collocation-Quadrature Methods for Strongly Singular Integral Equations

2021
In this chapter collocation and collocation-quadrature methods, based on some interpolation and quadrature processes considered in Chap. 3, are applied to strongly singular integral equations like linear and nonlinear Cauchy singular integral equations, integral equations with strongly fixed singularities, and hypersingular integral equations.

Collocation methods: More efficient procedures for applying collocation

Advances in Engineering Software, 2007
In recent years, new and more effective procedures for applying collocation have been published. This article is devoted to present a revision of this subject and complement its developments. From the general theory two broad approaches are derived, which yield the direct and the indirect TH-collocation methods.

A Stochastic Collocation Method for Elliptic Partial Differential Equations with Random Input Data

SIAM Review, 2007
In this paper we propose and analyze a stochastic collocation method to solve elliptic partial differential equations with random coefficients and forcing terms (input data of the model).

An extended collocation method

Calcolo, 1980
Given an approximate solutionxn of a linear operator equation obtained by a collocation method, an improved solutionx*n+m is obtained fromxn by an «extended collocation method» which consists in solving a further (m)-order linear system instead of an (n+m)-order one, diminishing the effects of rounding error in carrying out the calculations.

On upwind collocation methods

Communications in Applied Numerical Methods, 1985
AbstractThe upwind collocation method is analysed in a way which clearly demonstrates its similarities to other upwind schemes. The dispersion detected by Dougherty and Pinder5 is shown to be of little significance to the quality of the approximation.

Solving fractional optimal control problems with fixed or free final states by Haar wavelet collocation method

IMA Journal of Mathematical Control and Information, 2016
A numerical method using Haar wavelets for solving fractional optimal control problems (FOCPs) is studied. The fractional derivative in these problems is in the Caputo sense.
