Adaptive 2D IGA boundary element methods

open access: yes, 2015
We derive and discuss a posteriori error estimators for Galerkin and collocation IGA boundary element methods for weakly-singular integral equations of the first-kind in 2D.

Highly stable multivalue collocation methods

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract The paper is focused on the development of A-stable collocation based multivalue methods for stiff problems. This methods are dense output extensions of discrete multivalue methods, since the solution is approximated by a piecewise collocation polynomial with high global regularity. The underlying multivalue method is assumed to

Diffractive Synthesis of Multipole Interference States Using Low‐Index Mesoscale Dielectric Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Multipole interference (MPI) plays pivotal roles in electromagnetics. In optics, it has been realized typically with the Mie resonance in high‐index, deep‐subwavelength‐scale dielectric resonators. A new, diffraction‐based MPI scheme is proposed and demonstrated with low‐index, mesoscale dielectric structures.

Numerical approximations for population growth model by Rational Chebyshev and Hermite Functions collocation approach: A comparison

open access: yes, 2010
This paper aims to compare rational Chebyshev (RC) and Hermite functions (HF) collocation approach to solve the Volterra's model for population growth of a species within a closed system.

Two Schemes Based on the Collocation Method Using Müntz–Legendre Wavelets for Solving the Fractional Bratu Equation

open access: yesAxioms
Our goal in this work is to solve the fractional Bratu equation, where the fractional derivative is of the Caputo type. As we know, the nonlinearity and derivative of the fractional type are two challenging subjects in solving various equations.

Exploration of Half‐Cycle Length of Converging Circular Wavy Duct with Diverging‐Outlet: Turbulent Water Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
Increasing half‐cycles intensifies turbulence due to enhanced vortex interactions and flow separation at the diverged‐outlets. Longer wavy ducts are shown to increase flow acceleration, resulting in greater output velocities and more turbulent‐kinetic‐energy production. Wave‐period plays a crucial role in determining turbulent intensity, with amplitude

Applicability of spline collocation to cordial volterra equations

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2013
We study the applicability of the standard spline collocation method, on a uniform grid, to linear Volterra integral equations of the second kind with the so-called cordial operators; these operators are noncompact and the applicability of the ...

Assessment and Comparative Study of Free and Commercial Numerical Software Packages for Lithium‐Ion Battery Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the simulation capabilities of lithium‐ion battery (LIB) electrochemical simulation software packages. The benchmark simulation results reveal the impacts of parameter sensitivity to solver performance and stability. The guidelines to troubleshooting common solver failures at high current rates lowers the steep learning curve to ...

Designing Illumination Lenses and Mirrors by the Numerical Solution of Monge-Amp\`ere Equations

open access: yes, 2015
We consider the inverse refractor and the inverse reflector problem. The task is to design a free-form lens or a free-form mirror that, when illuminated by a point light source, produces a given illumination pattern on a target.

Isogeometric collocation mixed methods for rods

open access: yesDiscrete & Continuous Dynamical Systems - S, 2016
Isogeometric collocation mixed methods for spatial rods are presented and studied. A theoretical analysis of stability and convergence is available. The proposed schemes are locking-free, irrespective of the selected approximation spaces.
