Giant colloid cysts are defined as cysts of more than 3 cm in maximal diameter. Few cases of giant colloid cysts have been reported in the literature. We herein describe a giant colloid cyst. A 15-year-old female presented with headache, blurred vision, and episodic behavioral changes for 3 months.

These and 34 previously published cases of colloid cysts in children were reviewed. Colloid cysts are rare causes of headaches and papilloedema in children.

Colloid cysts represent 2% of gliomas, are more common in men than women, and usually are diagnosed between the third and fifth decades of life. The primary presenting complaint of this disorder is headache.
