SUDDEN DEATH DUE TO INTRACRANIAL COLLOID CYST

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences, 2016
Intracranial colloid cysts are non-neoplastic epithelium-lined cysts of the central nervous system that almost always arise from the anterior third ventricle roof (immediately posterior to the foramen of Monro).

Unexpected death after headache due to a colloid cyst of the third ventricle

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2006
Background Colloid cysts of the third ventricle are rare benign intracranial non-neoplastic cysts. Headache is the most common symptom. We present a case of sudden death due to colloid cyst in a 17 year old female who had symptoms of intermittent ...

Colloid cyst of the third ventricle

open access: yesPAMJ Clinical Medicine, 2020
We report the case of a male aged by 35-year-old with a history of chronic positional headache, besides he presented an unconscious collapse. The physical and neurological exams find no abnormality, the electroencephalogram and the fundoscopic exam were ...

Human Gut Bacteria and Lipidic Nanoparticles: Particle Composition Predicts Structural Transformation and Bacterial Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipidic nanoparticles (LNPs) were incubated with 21 gut bacteria frequently associated with the human microbiome. SAXS revealed that ∼75% of tested species induced structural transformations in monoolein LNPs, whereas phytantriol and phospholipid formulations remained unaffected.

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Epidemiology and Clinicopathologic Study of Nonneoplastic Cystic Lesions of the Central Nervous System at a Tertiary Care Center

open access: yesIndian Journal of Neurosurgery, 2023
Background Nonneoplastic cysts of brain are a diverse group of benign lesions with variable etiopathogenesis. Due to different site and histogenesis, these lesions have wide clinicopathologic spectrum.

Bio‐Inspired Synthesis of Macroporous Single Crystal Particles as Scattering Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A general strategy is presented that delivers unique, single‐crystal microparticles that combine submicron macroporosity and uniform particle shapes. A bioinspired approach is used to occlude three distinct types of additives – polystyrene microspheres, polymer vesicles and amino acids – within calcite single crystals, and subsequent thermal annealing ...

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward

Colloid Cyst Presenting as Head Injury

open access: yesIndian Journal of Neurosurgery, 2023
Colloid cysts are mucous- or hyaloid-filled lesions with an outer fibrous layer. These are rare developmental and nonneoplastic malformation. They may be found incidentally, while some cases may present with intermittent headache, rapid neurologic ...

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.
