A thin, insulating layer with high electrical resistivity is vital to achieving high performance of powder magnetic cores. Using layer-by-layer deposition of silica nanosheets or colloidal silica over insulating layers composed of strontium phosphate and

Water evaporation in silica colloidal deposits [PDF]
The results of an experimental study on the evaporation and boiling of water confined in the pores of deposits made of mono-dispersed silica colloidal micro-spheres are reported. The deposits are studied using scanning electron microscopy, adsorption of nitrogen, and adsorption of water through attenuated total reflection-infrared spectroscopy.

Obstructed Diffusion in Silica Colloidal Crystals [PDF]
The hindered diffusion in silica colloidal crystals was studied experimentally, both by fluorescence recovery after photobleaching and by measurement of ionic conductivity. Particle size was varied to include 120, 220, 470, and 1300 nm, and the porosities were determined by flow measurements.

Anisotropic deformation of colloidal particles under 4 MeV Cu ions irradiation
Anisotropic deformation of colloidal particles was investigated under ion irradiation with 4 MeV Cu ions. In this study, 0.5 μ m-diameter colloidal silica particles, 0.5 μ m-diameter Au-silica core–shell particles, and 15 nm-diameter Au colloids ...

Abstract The stabilities of the silica hydrosols Ludox HS and Ludox AM have been studied as a function of pH in the presence of various concentrations of several hydrolyzable electrolytes. “Log electrolyte concentration-pH” domains are given for the HS sol in Al(NO3)3 and Al2(SO4)3 solutions and for the AM sol in Al(NO3)3 and La(NO3)3 solutions.

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...
