Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Blocking effect of colloids on arsenate adsorption during co-transport through saturated sand columns.

open access: yesEnvironmental Pollution, 2016
Transport of environmental pollutants through porous media is influenced by colloids. Co-transport of As(V) and soil colloids at different pH were systematically investigated by monitoring breakthrough curves (BTCs) in saturated sand columns.

Infrared Nanocrystals for Space Application: Hardness to Irradiations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates infrared HgTe nanocrystals under X‐ray and ion irradiation, revealing remarkable radiation hardness. It uncovers distinct degradation mechanisms and shows that the nanomaterial outperforms integrated electronics. The results position colloidal nanocrystals as promising candidates for resilient space and harsh‐environment ...

Stabilization of Miscible Aqueous Phases via Diffusion‐Controlled Multifunctional Nanoparticle‐Ligand Complexation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a versatile approach to harnessing miscible aqueous domains, enabling liquid‐in‐liquid compartmentalization using a barrier formed in situ rather than bulk immiscibility. The barrier forms upon the complexation of multifunctional nanoparticles and ligands at the contact boundary of aqueous phases.

Entropy stabilizes floppy crystals of mobile DNA-coated colloids

open access: yes, 2018
Grafting linkers with open ends of complementary single-stranded DNA makes a flexible tool to tune interactions between colloids, which facilitates the design of complex self-assembly structures. Recently, it has been proposed to coat colloids with mobile

Biomimetic Nanovaccine Integrating Dendritic Cell Exosomes with Tumor Cell Membranes for Sustained Prophylaxis Against Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We have developed DEX/GM, an all‐natural, personalizable hybrid vaccine designed by coating dendritic cell‐derived exosomes (DEX) onto tumor cell membranes (GM) for sustained prophylaxis against glioblastoma (GBM). ABSTRACT Glioblastoma (GBM), one of the most aggressive and lethal brain tumors, remains incurable with a poor clinical prognosis.

Thermodynamic perturbation theory for self assembling mixtures of multi - patch colloids and colloids with spherically symmetric attractions

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we extend our previous theory [B. D. Marshall and W.G. Chapman, J. Chem. Phys. 139, 104904 (2013)] for mixtures of single patch colloids (p colloids) and colloids with spherically symmetric attractions (s colloids) to the case that the p ...

Crystallization of DNA-coated colloids

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
DNA-coated colloids hold great promise for self-assembly of programmed heterogeneous microstructures, provided they not only bind when cooled below their melting temperature, but also rearrange so that aggregated particles can anneal into the structure ...

Bioinspired Stabilization of Fluorescent Au@SiO2 Tracers for Multimodal Biological Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a bioinspired stabilization strategy for fluorescent gold‐silica nanoparticles. Inspired by natural biosilica maturation, high‐temperature calcination transforms the silica shells, preventing dissolution in cell culture media and intracellular environments.

Effects of co-present mineral colloids on the transport of microplastics in porous media: The key role of hydrochemical and hydrodynamic conditions

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Co-present mineral colloids affect the transport and distribution of microplastics (MPs) in porous media, however, the transport mechanism remains unclear.
