A functional multivariate analysis of Mesopithecus (Primates: Colobinae) humeri from the Turolian of Greece

Journal of Human Evolution, 2012
The genus Mesopithecus is well represented in the late Miocene of Greece by several recognized species. The present paper investigates functional aspects of the humeri of Mesopithecus delsoni/pentelicus, M. pentelicus and M. aff. pentelicus of several Turolian sites from central and northern Greece, using multivariate approaches. For these purposes, we

Molecular phylogeny and biogeography of langurs and leaf monkeys of South Asia (Primates: Colobinae)

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2008
The two recently proposed taxonomies of the langurs and leaf monkeys (Subfamily Colobinae) provide different implications to our understanding of the evolution of Nilgiri and purple-faced langurs. Groves (2001) [Groves, C.P., 2001. Primate Taxonomy.

Mitochondrial and nuclear markers suggest Hanuman langur (Primates: Colobinae) polyphyly: Implications for their species status

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2010
Recent molecular studies on langurs of the Indian subcontinent suggest that the widely-distributed and morphologically variable Hanuman langurs (Semnopithecus entellus) are polyphyletic with respect to Nilgiri and purple-faced langurs. To further investigate this scenario, we have analyzed additional sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome b as well as ...

Calcaneal features of the Greek Miocene primate Mesopithecus pentelicus (Cercopithecoidea: Colobinae)

Geobios, 2003
This paper investigates substrate preferences of the Greek Colobine Mesopithecus pentelicus WAGNER, from the Miocene of Pikermi, by examining selected functional features of the calcaneus that distinguish between arboreal and terrestrial Cercopithecidae.

Colobinae (Stummelaffen und Languren)

2003

Karyological analysis and NOR polymorphism of phayre’s langur, Trachypithecus phayrei crepuscula (Primate, Colobinae) in Thailand

The Nucleus, 2017
Karyological analysis of Phayre’s langur (Trachypithecus phayrei crepuscula) at Songkhla Zoo, Thailand has been reported in this present article. Conventional staining, GTG-banding, and high-resolution technical analysis were carried out on standard whole blood T-lymphocyte culture from 4 specimens of T. phayrei crepuscula.

Physiological Ecology of Howlers (Alouatta): Energetic and Digestive Considerations and Comparison with the Colobinae

International Journal of Primatology, 1998
Remarkably little attention has been focused on the physiological ecology of free-ranging primates. Yet without such information, it may prove difficult to advance our understanding of factors influencing the dietary behavior of wild primates much beyond its present state.

A new species of snub‐nosed monkey, genus Rhinopithecus Milne‐Edwards, 1872 (Primates, Colobinae), from northern Kachin state, northeastern Myanmar

American Journal of Primatology, 2010
AbstractWe describe a snub‐nosed monkey that is new to science from the high altitudes of northeastern Kachin state, northeastern Myanmar, the Burmese snub‐nosed monkey, Rhinopithecus strykeri sp. nov. Descriptions are based on a skin and skulls of four specimens obtained from local hunters.
