Summary Autonomously self‐fertilizing plants possess disproportionate abilities to found populations. Viewed from the metapopulation perspective, founding events should be frequent in such plants, but the intensity and timing of bottlenecks and recovery should vary among populations.

Regional and Sex‐Dependent Immune Profiling Across the Colon in A Mouse Model of Ulcerative Colitis
At baseline, males have higher IL‐10, TH17 cytokines, and higher macrophages, neutrophils, and CD8+ cells in the medial and distal colon. Whereas females displayed increasing macrophages, lower TNF‐α, and higher IL‐1β, IL‐17A, and dendritic cells in the cecum and proximal colon.

We investigated the impact of temporary stoma creation and closure on gut microbiota diversity in rectal cancer patients. 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that microbial diversity significantly decreased postoperatively in the stoma group but remained stable in non‐stoma patients.
