Congenital pouch colon with duplicate bladder exstrophy

Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2008
Congenital pouch colon, an unusual high anorectal malformation, is rarely associated with exstrophy variants. We describe a case of congenital pouch colon associated with duplicate bladder exstrophy, never reported before in literature. The relevant literature is reviewed, and the possible embryogenesis of this complex anomaly is suggested.

Congenital pouch colon: an unusual histological finding

Pediatric Surgery International, 2009
Congenital pouch colon (CPC) is an unusual abnormality in which the colon ends in a pouch-like dilatation and there is generally an associated anorectal malformation. The condition varies from complete absence of normal colon to a nearly normal length of proximal colon with only recto-sigmoid involvement.

Prediction of optimum dimensions of colonic pouch reservoir

Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, 1996
A mathematic model was developed to quantify colonic reservoir pouch capacity and to allow comparison with capacity of the parent colonic segment from which the pouch was fashioned.Using geometry, pouch capacity was calculated and various capacities were enumerated.From this model, ideal pouch dimensions can be predicted, which are 6 to 7 cm of ...

A Continent Colonic Urinary Reservoir: The Florida Pouch

Journal of Urology, 1990
A total of 92 patients underwent continent urinary diversion with an extended, detubularized right colonic segment as the urinary reservoir and the distal ileum as a continent catheterizable efferent system. In this series 65 patients were followed for 6 to 46 months (average 17 months). Our reservoir allows the accommodation of a large volume of urine;

COLONIC J‐POUCH AS A NEORECTUM: FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENT

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1997
Background: Sphincter‐saving procedures are now commonly used for low rectal cancer but straight colo‐anal anastomosis seemed to produce poor functional outcome. The present study was therefore carried out to compare and contrast the functional outcome of colonic J‐pouch and straight colo‐anal anastomosis.

[Colonic pouch: indications and technique].

Kongressband. Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Chirurgie. Kongress, 2003
Early functional outcome after low anterior resection with total mesorectal excision (TME) and colo-anal anastomosis for colorectal carcinoma can be improved by the restoration of the colonic reservoir. This can be achieved by the construction of a colonic J-pouch. The technique is safe and has been refined during the last years.
