Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for Pneumocystis jirovecii detection in lower respiratory tract samples

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
To date, the gold standard for Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PjP) diagnosis is direct microscopic examination (ME). However, several studies have shown that the DNA copy number of the P.

COLONIC MALAKOPLAKIA

open access: yesJournal of Ayub Medical College Abbottabad
This case report is of a 10-year-old female who presented with complaints of blood in her stool and colicky abdominal pain for the last 1.5 years. Biopsy samples from the rectum and left-sided colon were taken during a colonoscopy, revealing numerous histiocytes having calcified bodies (Michaelis-Gutmann bodies). Diagnosis of Malakoplakia was confirmed

Building like a Coral—Parallelized, Multiscale Biofabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Corals build stiff, strong, and inherently circular skeletal materials under resource‐ and energy‐limited conditions—offering blueprints for transformative materials. We synthesize the current understanding of coral biomineralization and reframe coral growth as a multiscale, parallelized biofabrication process.

Study of a Novel Bi‐Layered Thermoplastic Polyurethane Patch for Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Large congenital diaphragmatic hernia remains a challenge due to the poor compatibility of current prostheses. To tackle this problem, a bilayer thermoplastic polyurethane patch with tunable mechanical properties is engineered, whose fibrous side supports rapid fibroblast and myoblast colonization, while the smooth film limits adhesions.

Crack Repair in Hydroxyapatite Bioceramics Using an Ultraviolet Ultrafast Laser

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The study proposes an ultrafast ultraviolet laser approach to repair hidden tooth cracks, which has been preliminarily validated on HAP. Moreover, this technique aims to strengthen the native enamel structure rather than introducing a foreign filling material.

Enhanced Infection Resistance and Regenerative Healing of Titanium Implants via Peptide‐Loaded Biodegradable Coatings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a new biodegradable coating for titanium implants using a natural antimicrobial peptide, caerin 1.9. Applied via solvent casting, the coating offers sustained antibacterial protection and promotes healing. Tested on 3D‐printed porous titanium scaffolds, it effectively prevented infection—including against resistant bacteria—while ...
