Adjoint-optimized nanoscale light extractor for nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond
We designed a nanoscale light extractor (NLE) for the efficient outcoupling and beaming of broadband light emitted by shallow, negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in bulk diamond.

Synergistic Mn/N/F Tri-Doped TiO2 Nanoparticles: Bandgap Narrowing and Defect Passivation for Solar-Driven Pollutant Degradation [PDF]
The persistent challenge of organic pollutant remediation demands efficient solar-driven photocatalysts. Titanium dioxide (TiO2), though widely used, suffers from a wide bandgap (~3.2 eV), limiting activity to UV light and rapid charge recombination ...

Color centers-electrons trapped by the defects in insulating crystals-can be used for optically pumped lasers, which are broadly tunable over a wide range of ultraviolet, visible, and most importantly, infrared of 0.8-4 μm. Almost all the color center lasers are capable of cw and cw-mode-locked operation.

Chronography of the Milky Way's Halo System with Field Blue Horizontal-Branch Stars [PDF]
In a pioneering effort, Preston et al. reported that the colors of blue horizontal-branch (BHB) stars in the halo of the Galaxy shift with distance, from regions near the Galactic center to about 12 kpc away, and interpreted this as a correlated ...

A Constant Approximation for Colorful k-Center [PDF]
In this paper, we consider the colorful k-center problem, which is a generalization of the well-known k-center problem. Here, we are given red and blue points in a metric space, and a coverage requirement for each color.

Fluorine-based color centers in diamond [PDF]
AbstractWe report on the creation and characterization of the luminescence properties of high-purity diamond substrates upon F ion implantation and subsequent thermal annealing. Their room-temperature photoluminescence emission consists of a weak emission line at 558 nm and of intense bands in the 600–750 nm spectral range.

Four-jet angular distributions and color charge measurements: leading order versus next-to-leading order [PDF]
We present the next-to-leading order perturbative QCD prediction to the four-jet angular distributions used by experimental collaborations at LEP for measuring the QCD color charge factors.

Effects of Temperature and Cocatalyst Concentration on the Number of Active Sites in a TiCl4/Mg(OEt)2 Catalyst for Ethylene Polymerization [PDF]
The slurry polymerization of ethylene was studied by employing a (TiCl4/Mg(OEt)2/TEA) catalyst system in hexane. The effects of triethylaluminum concentration and temperature on polymer yield and polymer viscosity average molecular weight, Mv, were ...
