Reverse Doppler effect in backward spin waves scattered on acoustic waves

open access: yes, 2009
We report on the observation of reverse Doppler effect in backward spin waves reflected off of surface acoustic waves. The spin waves are excited in a yttrium iron garnet (YIG) film. Simultaneously, acoustic waves are also generated.

Isotope Shift Measurements of Stable and Short-Lived Lithium Isotopes for Nuclear Charge Radii Determination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Changes in the mean-square nuclear charge radii along the lithium isotopic chain were determined using a combination of precise isotope shift measurements and theoretical atomic structure calculations.

Farnesyltransferase Deficiency in Cardiomyocytes Initiates Senescence and Contributes to Cardiac Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid overload suppresses SREBF2‐mediated FNTB expression, leading to defective Lamin A maturation and nuclear envelope instability. This nuclear catastrophe triggers a pro‐fibrotic senescence program in cardiomyocytes. Notably, restoring nuclear integrity via AAV9‐based gene therapy effectively attenuates cardiac remodeling, identifying the ...

Sub-Doppler laser cooling of fermionic 40K atoms in three-dimensional gray optical molasses

open access: yes, 2012
We demonstrate sub-Doppler cooling of 40K on the D_1 atomic transition. Using a gray molasses scheme, we efficiently cool a compressed cloud of 6.5x10^8 atoms from ~ 4\mK to 20uK in 8 ms.

Bioabsorbable Endovascular Adhesive Tape (BEAT) for Improving Vascular Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioabsorbable endovascular adhesive tape (BEAT) platform based on a hierarchical polyelectrolyte complex is developed to enhance drug delivery in the DCB system. The coating enables rapid transfer to the vessel, provides short‐term mechanical support, and promotes both immediate transfer and long‐term retention of drugs at the lesion site.

High-speed, high-frequency ultrasound, \u3ci\u3ein utero\u3c/i\u3e vector-flow imaging of mouse embryos [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Real-time imaging of the embryonic murine cardiovascular system is challenging due to the small size of the mouse embryo and rapid heart rate. High-frequency, linear-array ultrasound systems designed for small-animal imaging provide high-frame-rate and ...

Crossover from Electromagnetically Induced Transparency to Autler-Townes Splitting in Open V-Type Molecular Systems

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and Autler-Townes splitting(ATS) in an open V-type molecular system. Through detailed analytical calculations on the absorption spectrum of probe laser field by using residue theorem and ...

A Soft Robotic Model for Simulating Heart Valve Disease and Cardiac Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This paper introduces a fully synthetic fabrication methodology for a soft robotic, in‐vitro model of the left‐heart, complete with a functioning mitral valve apparatus. With a view towards patient‐specific modeling, we demonstrate physiological flow and pressure waveforms, tunable mitral valve function with clinical imaging compatibility, and its use ...

Polyatomic candidates for cooling of molecules with lasers from simple theoretical concepts

open access: yes, 2016
A rational approach to identify polyatomic molecules that appear to be promising candidates for direct Doppler cooling with lasers is outlined. First-principle calculations for equilibrium structures and Franck--Condon factors of selected representatives
