Application of Prodigiosin Extracts in Textile Dyeing and Novel Printing Processes for Halochromic and Antimicrobial Wound Dressings [PDF]

open access: yesBiomolecules
The textile industry’s reliance on synthetic dyes contributes significantly to pollution, highlighting the need for sustainable alternatives like biopigments. This study investigates the production and application of the biopigment prodigiosin, which was

Coloring Fast with Broadcasts

open access: yesProceedings of the 35th ACM Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architectures, 2023
We present an $O(\log^3\log n)$-round distributed algorithm for the $(Δ+1)$-coloring problem, where each node broadcasts only one $O(\log n)$-bit message per round to its neighbors. Previously, the best such broadcast-based algorithm required $O(\log n)$ rounds. If $Δ\in Ω(\log^{3} n)$, our algorithm runs in $O(\log^* n)$ rounds.

Fast Fourier Color Constancy [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2017
We present Fast Fourier Color Constancy (FFCC), a color constancy algorithm which solves illuminant estimation by reducing it to a spatial localization task on a torus. By operating in the frequency domain, FFCC produces lower error rates than the previous state-of-the-art by 13-20% while being 250-3000 times faster.

Eco-Friendly Dye of Olive Fruit Peel and Its Color Fastness Applications on Wool/Silk Fabrics

open access: yesPolish Journal of Environmental Studies, 2023
Most of synthetic dyes are toxic for the environment. On the other hand, natural dyes are eco-friendly and can replace synthetic toxic dyes. In the present studies, a natural dye was extracted from rinsed and grinded olive peel in 1:10 ratio (m/V) with ...

Dyeing of Silk Fabric with Natural Wall Nut Tree Wood Dye and Its Ultraviolet Protection Properties

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2022
Maintaining color fastness and endow functionality of the fabrics dyed with natural colorants had been the major constraint of natural dye in modern textile practices. In this work, a natural dye was extracted from wall nut tree wood.

Dyeing of polyester fibers with sulfur- and nitrogen-containing anthraquinone derivatives [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Industry and Chemical Engineering Quarterly, 2022
A series of disperse dyes, 9,10-anthraquinone containing dithiocarbamate, thiourea and triazole fragments, were prepared via consecutive refunctionalization of aminoanthraquinones in our previous studies and their structures were confirmed by the 1H ...

ECOPRINT COLOR FASTNESS RESISTANCE ON GOATSKIN MEDIA AGAINST WET RUB AND SUNLIGHT

open access: yesE-Journal of Cultural Studies, 2022
Many artisans prefer to use artificial (synthetic) dyes because they are faster and easier. However, chemical substances from synthetic dye waste are harmful to the environment.
