Highly Durable and Uniform Structural Coloration via Spray‐Coated Organic Mie Resonators Randomly Distributed in Three Dimensions

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 5, 6 March 2026.
This study demonstrates uniform, durable non‐iridescent structural coloration using polystyrene nanoparticles randomly embedded in a thick sodium silicate with absorptive additives. By suppressing the effects of the structure factor and multiple scattering, this approach achieves uniform coloration from the backscattering.

Sociology and The Complexity of What Is Missing

open access: yesThe British Journal of Sociology, Volume 77, Issue 2, Page 332-344, March 2026.
ABSTRACT What is ‘missed’ by sociological literature underpinned by assumptions of presence that a missing approach can rectify? I appropriate a metaphysics of presence and an alternative focus on what is missing as ontological foci to revisit complexity studies in sociology.

The synthesis and analysis of color images [PDF]

open access: yes
A method is described for performing the synthesis and analysis of digital color images. The method is based on two principles. First, image data are represented with respect to the separate physical factors, surface reflectance and the spectral power ...

Optimization of CsPb(Br/I)3 Perovskite Nanocrystal Embedded Borosilicate Glasses as a Robust Red Color Converter

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite recent progress in CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) for color converters, the luminance of pure red LEDs with the Rec. 2020 standard Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) 1931 color coordinates of (0.708, 0.292) has yet to meet the requirement for outdoor display.

Skin Colour Does Not Define Ethnicity: Quantifying Variation and Overlap Across Diverse Populations

open access: yesSkin Research and Technology, Volume 32, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Skin colour is a prominent human trait historically used to define ethnicity, yet its validity as a classification tool remains questionable. Materials and Methods We quantitatively analyse over 14 000 skin reflectance measurements from eight ethnically diverse groups in the International Skin Spectra Archive (ISSA), using a ...

Color Constancy by Derivative-based Gamut mapping

open access: yes, 2007
Color constancy aims to compute object colors despite differences in the color of the light source. Gamut-based approaches are very promising methods to achieve color constancy. In this paper, the gamut mapping approach is extended to incorporate higher-order statistics (derivatives) to estimate the illuminant.
