Color image retrieval and analysis using image color measures
SPIE Proceedings, 2015Image color is an important property that contains essential information that can be utilized for conducting accurate image analyses as well as for searching and retrieving images from databases. The colors of an image may be distorted during image acquisition, transmission, and display due to a variety of factors including environmental conditions ...

Isocentric color saliency in images
2009 16th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2009In this paper we propose a novel computational method to infer visual saliency in images. The computational method is based on the idea that salient objects should have local characteristics that are different than the rest of the scene, being edges, color or shape, and that these characteristics can be combined to infer global information.

Color stereoscopic images requiring only one color image
Optical Engineering, 2007Utilizing remote color stereoscopic scenes typically requires the acquisition, transmission, and processing of two color images. However, the amount of information transmitted and processed is large, compared to either monocular images or monochrome stereo images. Existing approaches to this challenge focus on compression and optimization.

Color classification of natural color images
Color Research & Application, 1992AbstractThe present article describes a color classification method that partitions a color image into a set of uniform color regions. The input image data are first mapped from device coordinates into the CIE L*a*b* color space, an approximately uniform perceptual color space.

Colorizing is the act of giving color to grayscale images. A convolutional-neural-network-based method to colorize images without human interaction is presented in this project. Various frameworks, architectures, color spaces and approximations are explored to obtain the final model, capable of correctly restoring the original color of photographies ...

The Color of Digital Imaging: Color Theory
2015Now that you have an understanding of the positioning of pixels using an x,y grid, which defines the image resolution as well as the image aspect ratio, it is time to look inside of each pixel, and see how it defines its color space. Whereas a digital image holds its resolution and aspect ratio, from a data perspective, each pixel contains its own ...

A color classification algorithm for color images
1988We describe a color classification algorithm that partitions color image data into a set of uniform color regions. The algorithm uses a recursive method to detect clusters of color data. The algorithm can be divided into two main steps. First, we map the device dependent image data into an approximately uniform perceptual color space.
