Consumer Behavior: Product Characteristics and Quality Perception [PDF]

open access: yes
Consumers rely on signals, both extrinsic and intrinsic attributes, to solve their asymmetric information problem regarding product quality. In this study an experiment is designed to evaluate how consumers assess quality perception in terms of specific ...

Hierarchical Twist: Chirality Across Scales in Cellulose Cholesterics

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Hierarchical left‐ and right‐handed chiral nematic structures are observed in a solvent‐free thermotropic cellulose derivative. Free‐standing films show hierarchical twisted structures whose pitches respond differently to uniaxial strain: left‐handed pitches increase, ones decrease.

Industrial‐Grade Structural Coloration with Robust and Vivid TiON‐Based Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents TiON‐based Fabry–Perot cavities as a robust strategy for structural coloration. By substituting the metal top layer with TiON, the structures achieve vivid, tunable colors and resist oxidation, abrasion, and humidity. Long‐term testing demonstrates stable optical absorption and minimal chromatic drift, highlighting TiON's ...

Structural Colors from Ultrathin Lignin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Thickness‐dependent structural colors in ultrathin lignin films generate a full visible palette, tuned simply by solution concentration and spin speed. Abstract Structural colors offer a sustainable alternative to toxic pigments and dyes, yet their realization from lignin, the most abundant aromatic biopolymer, has remained elusive.

Multifunctional Förster Resonance Energy Transfer Materials as Thermo‐ and Mechanochromic Time Integrators

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Multifunctional fluorescent coatings offering simultaneous thermo‐ and mechanochromic‐time integration via Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) are reported. The exchange of fluorophores among donor and acceptor droplets in the coatings over time results in a decrease in the average intermolecular distance between the donor–acceptor pair, yielding ...
