Effect of food colorants on color of denture base acrylic resins

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2021
Background: Acrylic resin has been successfully used for complete denture fabrication for many years. Color stability is very crucial clinical properties for dental materials, and color change may be an indicator of aging or damaging of materials.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Change in Myoglobin Denaturation and Physiochemical Properties Among Three Degrees of Doneness and Three Beef Whole Muscles

open access: yesMeat and Muscle Biology
While the factors impacting raw meat color have been extensively explored, the factors affecting cooked meat color have been largely ignored, leaving a gap in research. Establishing a baseline for the changes that accompany different degrees of doneness (

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Impact of biochar on the fungal decay resistance of hemp-polylactic acid composites against wood basidiomycetes

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2023
Natural fibers reinforced composites represent a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymer-based materials. However, natural fibers are susceptible to fungal degradation which reduces the lifespan of the composites in use.

Photo-stability of Coloring Constituents in Paprika Color

open access: yesFood Hygiene and Safety Science (Shokuhin Eiseigaku Zasshi), 1997
Capsanthin (CP) and esterified capsanthins are the main coloring constituents in paprika color. Several reports have suggested that esterified capsanthins are more stable to light than CP itself in paprika powder and paprika extract. To clarify whether this is so, the photo-stability of lauroylmyristoylcapsanthin (LM-CP) and CP was investigated in ...
