A colorimetric assay for sulfiredoxin activity using inorganic phosphate measurement

open access: yes, 2019
2-Cys peroxiredoxin (Prx) is the major subgroup of a family of Prx enzymes that reduce peroxide molecules such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). 2-Cys Prxs are inactivated when their active site cysteine residue is hyperoxidized to sulfinic acid. Sulfiredoxin

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Electrically Readable Lateral Flow Assay Using Organic Transistors for Diagnostic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrolyte‐gated organic field‐effect transistors (EGOFETs) are integrated with lateral flow (LF) paper fluidics to create a reusable, portable, and low‐cost point‐of‐care (PoC) diagnostic test. The devices are validated for Human Immunoglobulin G detection, achieving high sensitivity (0.1 fm), selectivity, and reproducibility with rapid results in 20–

Aptamer-based colorimetric detection of various targets based on catalytic Au NPs/Graphene nanohybrids

open access: yesSensing and Bio-Sensing Research, 2019
In this paper, a label-free aptamer-based colorimetric assay was developed by incorporating catalytic Au nanoparticles/Graphene (Au NPs/Gr) nanohybrids. As an efficient peroxidase mimic, Au NPs/Gr can oxidize ABTS11 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-

Recent Progress in the Phase‐Controlled Synthesis of Ruthenium Nanocrystals for Catalytic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Template effect and kinetic control enable crystal‐phase engineering of Ru nanocrystals, granting access to either metastable fcc‐Ru or stable hcp‐Ru with distinct surface structures, thermal stabilities, and catalytic behaviors. Moreover, the hcp‐Ru can further serve as an epitaxial template to direct Pd and Rh nanocrystals into the metastable hcp ...
